👷‍♂️ When we visited TriStar Elevator's active jobsites, including an airport, a parking garage, and a bar under construction, we had the chance to speak with the skilled elevator constructors who make it all happen. Roman Sensing and Michael Halfacre from IUEC Local 93 revealed the dedication and expertise behind TriStar's success, and how their commitment to safety, family-oriented culture, and comprehensive training sets them apart in the industry.

📈 Roman's journey from a non-union company to becoming an IUEC apprentice highlights the significant impact of the National Elevator Industry Educational Program (NEIEP) on safety and skill training. Michael also spoke to us about the life-changing benefits of being an IUEC elevator constructor, including comprehensive health care and a secure future for his family.

From wearing PPE correctly to ensuring rigorous lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and being up-to-date with the latest safety resources and programs, every step is crucial.

👓 Don't underestimate the importance of guarding your eyes and face from potential hazards like debris or welding sparks - eye and face protection is essential. In the building trades, thousands are injured each year as a result of inadequate protection — and many of these accidents could have been prevented.

🔒 Whether electrical, hydraulic, or mechanical hazards are in play, the right LOTO procedures can be life-saving. In 2021, the lack of control of hazardous energy ranked seventh in OSHA’s list of most frequently violated standards. 📖 Always ensure you're up-to-date with the latest safety resources and training programs.
