Perfecting cellular grouting is a requirement in pipe lining. Having done this line of work for nearly a lifetime there is much to learn. We use a combination of swing tube and ball valve pumps based on the job requirements and monitor bars of pressure on a liner as it is grouted. Any weight (pcf) of grout can be achieved with our system. Each truck is weighed for quality control.

We have been conducting an increasing number of inspections on concrete pipes, with some exhibiting joint separation and others needing grouting to prevent the road base from sinking. Joints can be patched, or can receive joint seals but lining offers a long-term fix by pressure grouting the joints that may have lost road base and backfill.

No Dig Construction LLC often can fit nearly the same size pipe as the existing concrete and fix any line and grade issues without road closure.

Had some interesting work this week in which I was both proud of our workers and of our ability to pivot with issues. They do not call us in to fix new work. It is usually an ugly duckling. Pic one is a culvert with no invert we did not want to rip out as a fiber line ran directly under it. We dug the sides and packed it with around 300 # of hydraulic cement. The entire pipe had no invert and took an additional amount of grout which filled voids above it which may have eventually have caused roadway issues.
Pic two is a project grouting a larger concrete pipe structure only to find out a lateral had been cut in and sealed over at some point. Excavator was on site so we dug up the concrete apron and side and sealed the old lateral. Messy work but we got it done. The concrete pipe joints also had no gasket or seal and had to be hand packed. Again the joints of concrete had most likely been letting in road bedding creating voids above and around the structure. We got it resolved w no damage to area. Our cellular grouting process is both structural and able to be pushed into voids. Pic 3 and 4 is of a setback on a PVC liner and .5" casing pipe with an improved inlet underway. This allows the larger host pipe to be used to receive more water entering the pipe and therefore more water flow into pipe allowing for a downsize in dimension for improvement of deficient structure. Water has the hardest time entering a smaller area. Note that liner is at same level of existing flow line nearly eliminating headwater backup.

Don't tell but No Dig Construction was digging. Bare w the mess as we make the equipment yard more usable and finally get the inside of storage building moving. We moved tons of dirt and a bunch of trees this winter and still more to go. Practice makes perfect, and who doesn't like moving dirt. Adding better entry and exit for equipment and storage.

Sometimes, you have to use a lot of pieces to make one big piece. In HDPE we call this a monolithic pipe or a pipe with no joints. Once the pipe is welded, the joints are as strong as the pipe. Having welders on staff with experience in all types of pipe welding is key!

Well, on this day, the welder kicked into high gear, with the crew dropping down 72" pieces, setting them, and moving them forward at about 1 piece per 30 minutes. The claim is a piece moved every 15 minutes but who is buying that! 1 - 10 hour day and 200 feet divided by 5 feet = 40 pieces. 10 hours divided by 40 = 15 minutes average per piece.
I'm not saying that is normal, but we all got it done. This is an older project, but I found it relevant to some of the challenges that lining can have.
