“Do you have to replace all the wood under the shingles when you get a new roof?”

Not always. Once the old roofing comes off, we inspect the decking underneath. Any wood that’s still solid can stay. If we find sections that are soft, damaged, or rotted, those need to be replaced before the new roof goes on.

We don’t add work that your home doesn’t need, but we also won’t cover a problem and hope it goes away. A good roof needs a solid foundation.

Those chalk marks help us track and document what we’re seeing as we move from section to section. On a roof this size, taking the time to check everything matters. It allows us to show the property owner exactly what we found instead of handing them a vague “trust us.”
