🍂 Cooler Weather Is Coming—Is Your Plumbing Ready? 🔧
A little fall maintenance can help prevent big plumbing headaches! Add these simple tasks to your seasonal checklist:
đźš° Disconnect garden hoses. Drain and store hoses before freezing temperatures arrive, and protect outdoor faucets with insulated covers.
🧣 Protect exposed pipes. Insulate pipes in unheated areas like garages and crawl spaces to help reduce the risk of freezing.
đź’§ Check for leaks. Look under sinks and around toilets for drips, damp spots, or signs of water damage. Small leaks deserve attention now!
🔥 Give your water heater some attention. Watch for leaks, unusual noises, or inconsistent hot water, and schedule maintenance if it’s due.
🍽️ Keep holiday cooking out of your drains. Put grease, oil, coffee grounds, and food scraps in the trash—not down the sink. Even hot water won’t keep grease from causing buildup!
🏠Know your main shutoff valve. Make sure everyone in your household knows where it is and how to turn off the water in an emergency.
