Eddie Allen celebrates 55 years of service, but that’s only part of the story.
Born in 1950, Eddie grew up between Pittsview and Seale, Alabama, as the son of a farmer. As a young man, he told his father, “I ain’t plowing with that mule no more. I’m going to get me a job.”
That decision led him to McMath Construction in Columbus, Georgia, where he worked for a man everyone called Peewee. Over the years, Eddie followed Peewee to Brady Williamson Contractors and eventually to Robinson Paving Company.
For many years, Eddie served as foreman of one of the concrete crews. Jackie and Darrell Robinson, who both went on to become President of Robinson Paving Company, started their careers working alongside him.
Known by many as Mr. Eddie, he has always been dedicated, loyal and dependable. He first retired at age 65, but it did not take long before he decided to come back to work. This time, he helped around the shop, made deliveries and pick-ups, and did whatever was needed.
After continuing to serve the company until age 75, Eddie officially retired in December 2025.
These days, Eddie is enjoying a slower pace, volunteering at his church, riding his bicycle and spending time with family.
From all of us at Robinson Paving Company and The Scruggs Company, thank you, Eddie, for 55 years of service, hard work and friendship. Your impact will always be part of our story.
