For Women in Construction Week, we're celebrating Lillian Baumbach Jacobs! Lillian was the eldest child of a plumber and inventor and assisted her father’s plumbing business during summer jobs and service calls. She graduated from Washington-Lee High School in 1947 and, in 1951, passed the master plumbing examination with one of the highest scores in her class and became the first female master plumber in the United States.

Her achievement afforded her several television appearances. She went on the be a manager in her father’s plumbing business and prior to her retirement in 1989, she served as the president of the company.
