Our Franchising team was in Toronto last week for the ABA Forum on Franchising Annual Meeting, connecting with colleagues from across the industry and taking part in conversations around the latest trends and developments in franchise law.

For Kacie Davis, Jessica Gilliland, and Peter Stoecklein, the conference offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships, exchange perspectives, and stay connected to the issues affecting the franchise community.

A proud day on Capitol Square.

Sheila Willamowski Boehner and Vanessa Botts joined the community at the Ohio Statehouse for the unveiling of the Ohio Women’s Monument, which honors the Ohio women who fought for the right to vote. Before the ribbon-cutting, a program recognized the many people who helped bring the monument to life, and we were glad to hear State Rep. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio speak about what it means for Ohio.

From our office on the square, we’ll see this tribute to the women who used their voices to secure the vote, and to those who continue that work today. Their legacy reminds us that representation matters, in public life and in professions like ours.

Thank you to Capitol Square Foundation, Ohio Women’s Suffrage Monument Commission and all who had a hand in yesterday’s celebration.

Our Global Education team was well represented at this year’s University Risk Management and Insurance Association Annual Conference, with Lesley Melega and Bill Nicholson each taking the stage to address the legal and risk management considerations that come with operating educational programs abroad.

Lesley joined The Forum on Education Abroad's Pato Lin-Steadman for a discussion of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad and how they can help inform risk management and legal decision-making. And Bill, alongside risk management leaders from Princeton University and Duke University, explored another important piece of the puzzle: using well-drafted international agreements to clarify responsibilities, address liability concerns and support safer global programs.
