Happy Women in Construction Week! Today we’re proud to spotlight Kim Richards.

For 8 years, Kim has served as a Project Accountant at Crossland Heavy, helping keep our projects financially on track from start to finish. From securing bonds, contracts, and insurance at the beginning of a job to managing budgets, processing invoices, and preparing pay applications, Kim ensures our project managers and field teams have a clear, real-time understanding of each project’s financial health. Her work behind the scenes keeps projects moving so our crews can focus on building.

What Kim enjoys most is seeing each project take shape from open ground to a finished facility serving the community. “Every time you drive by a completed project, you feel a sense of accomplishment knowing you were part of the process.” She’s proud to see women represented at all levels across Crossland Heavy and encourages others to jump in, work hard, and make a difference in an industry that is both challenging and rewarding.

Outside of work, Kim and her husband Drew stay busy with their three daughters. Whether cheering at softball games, traveling when they can, or relaxing at the beach, family is at the center of it all.

Crossland Heavy’s Kansas City Division continues to make solid progress on improvements at the East and Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plants in Junction City, KS. At the East Plant, crews are rehabbing key structures and advancing new construction, including the anoxic basin and sludge storage tank. At the Southwest Plant, upgrades to the process building and activated sludge system are moving forward alongside new digesters and a pump station. CHC is also completing work at Junction City’s Water Treatment Plant that extends to two water tower sites, with structural, electrical, and SCADA upgrades. Every improvement is designed to strengthen Junction City’s systems and serve the community well into the future.

We’re thankful to have been part of a project that’s made such a strong impact in Fayetteville. Centennial Park has become a place where the community gathers, athletes compete, and visitors experience the best of Northwest Arkansas.

Nik Mackey’s 18 years at Crossland Heavy are a testament to what happens when you show up, work hard, and lift others along the way. From Form Carpenter to Superintendent, Nik has led by example, built trust on every jobsite, and kept projects moving forward—three weeks ahead, just like he says. He points to Broken Arrow Events Park as a standout project and a reminder that there’s always more to learn and pass on. Work is moving forward on the City of Stillwater’s water treatment improvements. Phase 1 includes a new lime system, CO₂ tank, and modifications to the existing SCUs and is scheduled to be complete this spring. Phase 2 is also taking shape with the new chemical building and booster pump building underway, along with updates to the ozone and chemical buildings and new process and chemical piping throughout the plant. We’re committed to delivering a high-quality finish without sacrificing time or safety.
