A heater acting up doesn't automatically mean you need a new system. At Boyle Heating & Cooling, we look at the full picture, including the age of your system, what the repair would cost, how reliable it's been, and how efficiently it's running.

As a general guide, systems under 10 years old with a single problem usually make sense to repair. Systems 15 years or older with recurring issues are typically better candidates for replacement, especially if some rooms no longer heat evenly.

If a repair is the better choice, that's what we'll recommend. We've been helping homeowners in Columbus, Starkville, and West Point work through this decision for more than 25 years, and we'll lay out the options that fit your home and budget with no pressure either way.

On November 1st, daylight saving time ends, and the clocks fall back an hour. This shift not only gives us an extra hour of much-needed sleep but also serves as a timely reminder to take care of a few things around the house as we approach winter.

So, that said, here is a quick home checklist worth running through as the days get shorter:

✅Turn back any clocks that do not automatically adjust themselves before bed on Saturday night.

✅Test and replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. This is one of the easiest ways to keep your household safe heading into winter.

✅Check your outdoor and security lighting. As daylight hours get shorter, having well-lit outdoor spaces can be a key safety step.

Taking care of these small to-do list items can make a real difference in how safe and prepared your home feels all season long.

As always, if there is anything we can assist with, do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.

Are family and friends coming in from out of town this holiday season? Before the guest rooms fill up, take a moment to check how your home feels from room to room.

We typically suggest looking out for rooms that stay colder than the rest of the house, vents with weak or uneven airflow, and drafts that may point to insulation or ductwork issues. A finished bonus room, nursery, or guest bedroom that never seems quite as comfortable as the main living areas is a common example, and an inspection can often explain why.

Boyle Heating & Cooling handles heating, ductwork, and insulation work for homes throughout Columbus, New Hope, and the Golden Triangle.

A lot of our heating calls come in on Thanksgiving Day itself, right when family is in town and the house needs to be warm. At Boyle Heating & Cooling, we'd much rather help you catch a problem early than have you scrambling on the holiday.

A fall heating checkup can reveal issues that often develop over time, including weak airflow, unusual noises, short cycling (a system turning on and off repeatedly), or a system that struggles to hold the temperature you've set. A preseason visit might show that a heat pump needs maintenance, for example, and that's much easier to handle now than a breakdown during a family gathering.

We've kept homes warm across Columbus, Starkville, West Point, and the Golden Triangle for more than 25 years, and we'd be glad to get your system ready before the first serious cold snap.

Call us at 662-889-1059 to schedule your heating maintenance.
