We’re proud to share that Blake Compton has been named to the 2026 Aspire Smartest Men in the Room class.

The recognition celebrates male leaders whose leadership, advocacy, and allyship help advance women entrepreneurs and business leaders across Central Ohio.

At Compton, we work with women who are taking big steps in their businesses, from first-time builders creating their first physical space to franchise owners investing in what comes next. We’re also fortunate to have women in leadership roles across our own team, helping guide projects, relationships, decisions, and the direction of Compton Construction.

Supporting women in business isn’t separate from the work happening around us. We see that leadership, ambition, and entrepreneurship firsthand every day.

Congratulations, Blake, and thank you to Aspire Women’s Book of Business and Women's Center for Economic Opportunity for recognizing the importance of allyship in building a stronger Central Ohio business community.

We’re looking forward to celebrating the 2026 Aspire Women’s BIG Book of Business launch on September 2.

The Compton Construction curling era has officially begun!

We hit the ice for a team outing, learned the basics, tested our sweeping skills, and discovered that curling requires more strategy than most of us expected.

Our team traded job sites and offices for curling stones and spent some time learning a new kind of coordination.

And while we may not be ready for the Olympics (yet), we did get a solid reminder of what makes this team fun to be part of: showing up, supporting each other, learning, and enjoying the process.

Before the glam mirror, we made a game plan.

Our team helped turn 1,400 square feet into a polished wellness and aesthetic studio for , built around brand standards, guest experience, and the kind of details people notice as soon as they walk in.

As wellness and aesthetic studios keep gaining momentum, projects like this show where Compton fits in: helping franchise owners bring a recognized brand into a local market with the right construction partner behind the scenes.

Specialized sound mitigation, custom millwork, decorative lighting, and one very memorable glam mirror all came together to create a space that feels clean, elevated, and ready for its close-up.

"When we work in older buildings or established neighborhoods, one of the first questions is simple: how do we honor what was already there while making room for what comes next?

Some details tell the story of the place. Brick, wood, old ceiling tiles, worn floors, a familiar mural, a storefront people recognize, or the feeling of a block that has held a lot of lives over time. Those details matter because they give people a connection to where they are.

Construction often asks us to update, repair, and make a space useful for today. The best version of that work starts with respect for what came before.

This month, I’m thinking about the spaces, artists, businesses, and neighborhoods that keep evolving while still holding onto the pieces that make them feel like Columbus.

How do you build a space for sound?
We start long before the microphones turn on.

Specialized spaces like broadcast studios, music rooms, podcast suites, and production environments require more than standard walls and finishes. These spaces need construction details that support performance and outcomes.

That means we're thinking through the wall assembly, sound isolation, acoustical treatments, data infrastructure, cooling needs, equipment coordination, and even visual signals that help protect the work happening inside the room.

Behind every clean, finished studio is a lot of careful coordination: where sound travels, where vibration transfers, where equipment lives, how people move, and how the space needs to function in real time.

The details you don't see are often the ones doing the most important work.

"With company growth comes office growth. We’ve been thoughtful about how our office supports both our team and the people who walk through the door. Recent improvements, from a more functional lunch space to a more welcoming lobby, reflect something we believe deeply: the spaces we create shape the experience we offer.

That’s also why the art in our office matters. Many of these pieces come from Franklinton and tell a story about creativity, community, and place. We hope it encourages others to think about how their own spaces can better support their teams, reflect their values, and create a stronger sense of belonging.

Excited to be continuing our work in Hilliard with a wonderful client and team.

Earlier today, we were selected by the Hilliard Development Corporation to pursue an agreement to redevelop the former Chase Bank site located at 4056 Main Street in Downtown Hilliard. As a local development firm with roots firmly planted in Hilliard, we could not be more excited to work with the HDC, city staff, and our neighbors to bring to life a project that meets the desires of this community and is befitting of what Old Hilliard deserves.

While this is merely the first step in the development journey, we genuinely hope Westwood’s selection is a defining moment in our city’s history. Thank you City of Hilliard, Ohio - Government for your trust, passion, and shared vision for our hometown. And, a huge shoutout to our talented and committed design partners at SSOE Group(formerly SHYFT), Studio 3e (Kelly Eyink), Gold Path Solar, Creative Studio Architects, Compton Construction, LLC, and American Structurepoint.

Meet Tremble Pilates. This woman-owned franchise is bringing serious energy to the Short North.

From a former retail shell to a bold, immersive studio, we built this space for focus, movement, and a full-body experience. Think dramatic red lighting, sleek finishes, and a layout designed to flow from check-in to cooldown.

We're proud to help bring Tremble’s first Ohio location to life.

What if the best person to evaluate a construction project… was your 8-year-old self? At Compton Construction, we've started a new initiative, "Inner Child Consulting." Under the new program, Compton team members are encouraged to astral project their younger selves to work for the day

Early results have been promising.

Field reports have shown a measurable increase in wonder during site visits. Team members have reported pausing more often to appreciate steel, millwork, paint colors, and the fact that entire spaces begin as conversations and end as places people gather, work, heal, celebrate, and grow.

Compton Construction is also rumored to be piloting a companion initiative known as Snack-Driven Scheduling, though leadership declined to comment.
