🎉 Celebrating G&G — and the Man Behind It! 🎉

Yesterday we celebrated a very special birthday — our owner, Jeff Grouser! 👏

Jeff’s vision, leadership, and work ethic are what built G&G into what it is today. From early mornings in the field to long days in the office, his commitment to quality, integrity, and doing things the right way continues to set the tone for our entire team.

What started as a passion for landscaping has grown into a company rooted in craftsmanship, strong relationships, and pride in every project we complete. Jeff leads by example — never afraid to roll up his sleeves and get involved wherever needed.

Beyond the business, Jeff is a true family man. His love for his family drives everything he does, and that same care and dedication carries over into how he treats employees, clients, and partners. He believes in building more than landscapes — he believes in building lasting relationships.

Jeff also takes great pride in our local community. Supporting neighbors, serving local families, and helping improve the properties that make our area beautiful is something he genuinely cares about. That sense of community pride is woven into the foundation of G&G.

We’re grateful for his leadership, heart, and commitment — both to his family and to the community we serve.

Please join us in wishing Jeff a very happy birthday and another year of growth, impact, and success ahead! 🎂🌱

🌲 Plant Spotlight: Blue Spruce 🌲

If you’re looking for bold color and year-round strength in your landscape, Blue Spruce is a standout choice. Known for its striking blue-gray needles and classic pyramidal shape, this evergreen makes a powerful statement in any setting.

✨ Why Blue Spruce stands out:

🔹 Unique Color Contrast
The silvery-blue foliage adds cool-toned contrast against green lawns, darker evergreens, and brick or stone homes. In winter especially, that blue hue really shines against snow.

🔹 Year-Round Structure
With its strong, symmetrical form, Blue Spruce provides vertical interest and structure through every season.

🔹 Evergreen Durability
Cold-hardy and resilient, it performs well in harsh winter conditions and stands up to wind and snow better than many other trees.

🔹 Great as a Focal Point
Whether planted as a specimen tree or incorporated into a larger design, Blue Spruce draws the eye and anchors the landscape.

Because of its mature size, proper placement is key. Planning ahead ensures it has the space it needs to thrive for decades to come.

Thinking about adding long-lasting color and structure to your property? Blue Spruce might be the perfect fit. 🌲💪

🔨 Out with the Old, In with the New! 🏢

If you’ve stopped by recently, you may have noticed things looked a little… different.

We recently had our office floors completely redone — which meant temporarily gutting the space and turning our office into a full-blown construction zone. Dust, equipment, furniture stacked everywhere… the works. 😅

But progress requires a little disruption.

We’re excited to say the project is complete, we’re back at our desks, and the office is refreshed and ready for the season ahead. 🌱

Just like we help our clients transform their outdoor spaces, we believe in reinvesting in our own workspace to stay organized, efficient, and prepared to serve you better.

Spring is coming fast — and we’re fully operational and ready to take on the season.

📞 Give us a call and let’s get your property looking its best.

🌱 Why planning early matters:
• More flexibility with scheduling
• Time to finalize designs, materials, and plant selections
• Better preparation for cleanups, installs, and upgrades

🛠️ Behind the Scenes: Winter Prep in the Shop 🛠️

While the landscape may be resting for the season, our work definitely isn’t. Winter gives our team the time to focus on what keeps everything running smoothly once spring arrives.

❄️ What’s happening behind the scenes:
• Equipment inspections and preventative maintenance
• Repairs and upgrades to ensure safe, reliable operation
• Organizing tools and materials for faster, cleaner job sites
• Planning workflows so crews are ready to roll on day one

This offseason prep helps us deliver efficient, dependable service when the growing season begins—and it means fewer delays and better results for our clients.

Spring will be here before we know it, and we’re making sure we’re ready. 🌱

🌾 Plant Spotlight: Ornamental Grasses 🌾

Think your landscape has to look dull in winter? Think again. Ornamental grasses are one of the unsung heroes of the cold months, adding texture, movement, and visual interest long after other plants have gone dormant.

❄️ Why we love them in winter:
• Seed heads catch frost and snow beautifully
• Tall plumes sway in the wind, adding motion to the landscape
• Dried blades provide structure and contrast against bare ground
• Many varieties offer habitat for birds during colder months

🌱 Bonus tip: Leaving ornamental grasses standing through winter also helps protect the plant crown. We recommend cutting them back in late winter or early spring to make way for fresh growth.

If you’re planning new beds or refreshing existing ones this spring, ornamental grasses are a low-maintenance option that delivers year-round appeal.

📞 Thinking ahead for spring planting? We’re happy to help you choose the right varieties for your property!

🌨️ Winter Property Check-In: Protect Your Landscape Mid-Season 🌿

Winter storms and freezing temperatures can take a toll on your landscape, often in ways that aren’t obvious at first glance. A quick mid-winter check can help prevent small issues from turning into costly problems when spring arrives.

Here are a few things to keep an eye on this time of year:

🌳 Storm Damage & Broken Branches
Heavy snow and ice can weigh down trees and shrubs, causing splits or broken limbs. Removing damaged branches early helps protect the plant and prevents safety hazards.

💧 Drainage Concerns
Melting snow and refreezing can reveal poor drainage areas. Watch for standing water or ice buildup where runoff collects — these spots can lead to turf damage or slippery conditions.

🌿 Plant Protection
Check burlap wraps, stakes, and protective coverings to make sure they’re secure and still doing their job against wind and winter burn.

🧊 Salt Exposure
Keep an eye on areas near driveways and walkways where salt may accumulate. Excess salt can stress turf and plants.

A little attention now goes a long way toward a healthier, cleaner landscape in spring. If you notice anything concerning, our team is always here to help. 💪❄️

✨ Community Moment: A Sky We Won’t Forget ✨

A big thank you to one of our community members, Heather Angelini, for sharing these incredible photos they captured last November during the aurora borealis event! 🌌💚💗

Seeing the pink and green glow lighting up the sky over our barn and silo was something truly special — and having it captured through your lens makes it even more meaningful. Moments like this remind us how lucky we are to work where we do and be part of such an amazing community.

We’re grateful you thought to share these with us. Nature really put on a show that night! 👏✨

If anyone else snapped photos from that evening, we’d love to see them — feel free to share!
