Myth: WD-40 is fine for a squeaky garage door.

Reality: it's a solvent. It thins out the grease that's supposed to be in there and leaves the parts drier than it found them. Then it drips down onto the track and picks up dirt.
If you want to grease it yourself, use an actual garage door lubricant, put it on the hinges and the little wheels, and go easy. The tracks stay dry. Those you wipe out with a rag.

Squeak that won't quit after that is usually something we should look at.

Usually fix it. Springs, wheels, cables, and openers are all parts you replace on a door you keep. None of them means the door is finished.

What actually makes it a new-door conversation is the door itself. Panels dented or rusting through at the bottom. Damage from a car. A garage that's freezing all winter because there's no insulation in there at all.

And sometimes it's just that you're tired of looking at it. That's a fine reason too.
We'll tell you which one you've got. If a repair will hold, we'll say so.
