The Historic Thomas House Mansion and Guest House at 640 N Elm in Colville, WA are for sale! They are both being used as Airbnb's while we wait for the perfect buyer to love them as much as we do.

If you need to find the perfect 1031 investment, look no further. Use this lovely historic home for you and your family or keep it as the successful Airbnb it currently is.

Here is one of the excellent reviews recently given to the mansion:

"Exceptional stay at a truly special property!

"Our family had an unforgettable experience at the Historic Thomas Mansion. The home is not only spacious enough to comfortably accommodate the entire family, but it also offers breathtaking mountain views and is perfectly situated near shopping, dining, and local attractions. One of the standout features is its rich history—you can actually see the home listed in the historical registry, which adds a unique charm to the experience. Just a couple of blocks away is a fascinating local museum, making it easy to explore and appreciate the area’s heritage.

"Host Shelley was absolutely wonderful—responsive, thoughtful, and clearly committed to the local community. Her passion for hospitality and preservation shines through in every detail of the home.

"If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind getaway that combines comfort, history, and local culture, the Thomas Mansion is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!"

Rental for sale in Colville - 4,800 sq ft, $760,000.00, .33 ac

Hey, friends of Hope Street Restoration - since this is a really bad time to sell a fantastic huge house (spring is much better!), I have decided to turn the Thomas House at 640 N Elm into an Airbnb for a bit. The cottage should be ready in a week or so and the house shortly thereafter. I will be using Evolve to do the bookings, marketing, etc. I just have to have some income coming back to keep up with the bills!

BUT I need some furniture to get the rooms ready. Does anyone have a queen bed they don't need any more and would be willing to sell cheaply? I need THREE of them! I have two beds, but I also have six rooms that will be bedrooms (including the parlor). I could also use some desks. I would prefer them to look like they belong in a cool old house, if possible. And I would like to get a few occasional chairs so each room could have one.

Let me know what you have! (I am also searching Marketplace for these items.)

Oh....and if anyone is getting rid of kitchen things, I have two kitchens (one small one in the cottage and a BIG one in the main house) to outfit. I have already hit the Dollar Store and will be hopefully getting some things from Ross or TJ Maxx Thursday. But...always interested in knowing what I can find locally.

THANK YOU!

Anyone interested in helping with this project?

Hope Street Project is getting very close to opening Bridges of Hope, a faith-based clean and sober home and program in Colville. We purchased a long table so the residents could all eat together at the same time and found some FREE chairs in Spokane to go with it. However, the chairs are in need of new seat covers. The Hope Street Restoration and Hope Street Project teams , along with a number of volunteers, are hard at work finishing the remodeling, so we thought we would see if any supportive community members would like to take on the task of putting new pads and upholstery on the chairs. They are very sturdy restaurant chairs. Let us know if you can help!

Quite a few of our community members have toured the (nearly) finished project house at 640 N Elm. Some of you stopped to watch the eight-minute "before" video. However, if you haven't seen it, you can't really appreciate what it looks like now and what it took to get it there. Therefore, I'm posting that video (taken in Nov. of 2022, as we had just gotten started on the house) again. When we have a completed video of the finished project, we'll post that also.

By the way, if you have seen or do see the house, you will notice a few of the things I said we planned to do in the "before" video we didn't do - like take away the huge concrete stairs and replace them with something else (we put thin brick on them instead --- way too expensive and difficult to get rid of them!) and put back some French doors that used to go between the parlor and the dining room (Heather, one of the previous owners, suggested we not put doors there so we would have a wall in the dining room to put furniture on --- good call, Heather!). We also put the bathroom first and the laundry room second on the main floor (the video says the laundry will be first, but we switched that). We didn't create a craft room but instead used the entire north end of the basement to create a beautiful bedroom! We also were able to use almost the WHOLE south side of the basement for a terrific family room rather than having part of the space be a work room. You will have to come see the finished product to see the huge changes that were made. We keep hearing a lot of ooohhs and aaahhs as people walk through. Come see for yourself!

There will be another open house Friday from 10 - 2, mostly for people to shop (all the staging items are for sale, courtesy of Reborn Goods Corners Stores), but we would be happy to give tours during that time. The house will also be open Sunday from 2-6.
