🏊 Thinking about opening your pool soon? Read this first.
Every year, homeowners are injured due to electrical hazards around pools — and most don’t even know the risks exist.
Here are 3 things every Long Island pool owner should check before swimming season:
⚡ 1. GFCI Protection — All outlets within 20 feet of your pool must be GFCI protected. These outlets automatically shut off power if they detect a fault, protecting your family from electric shock.
⚡ 2. Bonding & Grounding — Your pool pump, metal ladder, and light fixtures need to be properly bonded and grounded. Without it, stray electrical current can pass through the water — completely invisible and extremely dangerous.
⚡ 3. Pool Lighting — Underwater lights that are cracked, corroded, or outdated are a serious hazard. If your pool light hasn’t been inspected in a few years, now is the time.
✅ A quick electrical inspection before opening your pool could save your family’s life.
