25 years ago I was a 16 year old kid sitting in his high school classroom watching the Towers fall on live tv. In seconds thousands of lives were lost, and the lives of everyone who remained to witness that day were forever changed.
In the minutes, days and months that followed men and women stood up to become our champions. They walked by us as civil servants the days leading up to September 11th, and when hatred turned its ugly head, they became our hero’s.
We as a nation, in solidarity, vowed never to forget. 25 years later, Commack School District helped us honor and recommit to that vow.
I was proud to be a sponsor tonight, but walking with my family after tonight, I’m even prouder to be a part of this community.
Many have gone, but no one is forgotten. My thoughts are with everyone who lost someone, and my prayers are with all the hero’s that continue to choose to wear a uniform.
God bless you all. And God Bless our United States of America
