June Charitable Spotlight

Bridge of Hearts, founded in 2019, started with a mission to engage the greater Lake Norman community to celebrate and care for the youngest and most vulnerable citizens, children.
Bridge of Hearts became a nonprofit in 2023 and has been dedicated to supporting impoverished and homeless students from pre-k to high school seniors through three programs.

Celebration Children Program: This program aims to make children celebrating a birthday feel extra special with a handwritten note, gifts, books and a family celebration kit. The celebration kits contain everything needed to have a family birthday bash with cake mix, frosting, pan, candles, party plates and napkins. To date, they have helped over 3,350 children celebrate their birthdays and given out over 6,710 books.

Caring for Kids Program: This program works hand in hand with school guidance counselors to ensure that children in need have the necessary personal health and hygiene supplies as well as bags of healthy snacks. Under this program, children in need can receive a Go Bag, a bag full of everyday living essentials such as a sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, and socks in addition to the hygiene items and healthy snack bags. To date, 212 emergency supplies and over 25,930 bags of healthy snacks and hygiene bags have been distributed.

Caring for Babies: This program distributes essential nursery items to middle and high school mothers for their babies. To date, they have helped 11 school-aged mothers.

Charitable Spotlight

The Dream on 3 organization, formed in 2012, is an organization that makes sports dreams come true for children and young adults with life altering conditions, mental health challenges and chronic illnesses. They aim to create sport themed, VIP experiences full of joy, hope, and encouragement for all Dream recipients with a variety of programs that make a really big impact.

Dream recipients aged 5-21 are given an opportunity to live out their ultimate sports dream with a favorite athlete, sporting event or sports team anywhere in the United States. Experiences include luxury accommodation, transportation, and dining as well as other activities based on the recipient's interests. Dream on 3 teams up with the family, school, corporations, communities and athletic partners to make the dream come true while working with the family to keep the details a big surprise. There are a variety of programs to pick from to make dreams come true for recipients:

The Daydreamers Program serves a larger group of children at an in-person sporting event. They partner with athletes and sports organizations in our local community to offer an exclusive one-time opportunity for a group of Dreamers.

The Collegiate Dream Team Program experience allows college students to work together in creating, planning and hosting fundraising events utilizing marketing strategies and relationship building with their Dream recipient. They participate in planning and ex*****on of a Dream experience.

The Junior Dream Team Program helps students create a dream experience for a fellow classmate living with a life altering condition. Student leaders set goals, solve problems, and influence their peers in a positive way. This program often involves an entire school and community to give an over-the-top sport themed experience.

The Dream Box Program people can donate personalized care packages full of sport themed goodies delivered directly to a recipient's home or hospital.

The Scholarship Program was created in honor of their friend, eleven-year-old Nicholas Thornton, who they lost in 2014. His legacy lives on through the lives of the Dream recipients.

The Alumni Program are scheduled events and opportunities to reconnect Dreamers like a big family reunion.
