Bermuda is one of the most heat-tolerant turfgrasses, which is one reason it's so popular in the Carolinas. However, during extended dry periods, it may go dormant and turn brown—especially when watering restrictions limit irrigation. The good news? Dormant Bermuda isn't necessarily dead. Once temperatures moderate and rainfall returns, it can often recover and green back up.

🚨 Is that bright green w**d growing faster than your grass? If you've noticed tall, lime-green shoots sticking out above your lawn, there's a good chance you're looking at yellow nutsedge.

Yellow nutsedge is one of the most common summer w**ds in North Carolina lawns. It grows faster than turfgrass and is easy to identify by its triangular stem and bright green color. Many homeowners mistake it for grass and try pulling it by hand, but that often doesn't solve the problem. Yellow nutsedge spreads through underground tubers, making it a persistent w**d if not treated properly.
