🐀🚽 Yes...a rat can come up through your toilet.

As unbelievable as it sounds, rats are strong swimmers and can travel through sewer systems before finding their way into plumbing pipes. While it's rare, it can happen, especially in areas with older sewer infrastructure or damaged sewer lines.

The good news? It's not something most homeowners will ever experience.

Anyone looking for a part-time job & love dogs? Their cat shelter Princeton's Meow is desperately looking for more volunteers if you are a cat lover. Both located in Concord.

Our Ruth's Memorial Shelter (our dog facility) is hiring kennel attendants. If you have a passion for working with dogs and you have an interest in part time work caring for them, please reach out to us at [email protected] to express your interest. We are looking for a few people who would like to join our team to help feed, clean and care for the animals entrusted in our care. Applicant must have their own dedicated transportation, must be 18 years of age, must be able to work a flexible schedule, must be able to work well with others and follow basic guidelines for animal care and safety of self and others. We operate seven days a week, 365 days a year and offer two shifts. We need flexibility and a willingness and desire to care for animals and be flexible enough to roll with changes as this is an evolving environment. Fiji and Marquesas have one rule. They go home together.

We met these two on Saturday at our event with the Humane Society of Concord, and we haven't stopped thinking about them since. They're border collie lab mixes who have been at the shelter since they were six months old.

Marquesas is the outgoing one who greets you first. Fiji hangs back a second, then decides you're alright. They play together, nap together, and do just about everything else together, which is exactly why they can only be adopted as a pair.

That pair part is the reason they're still waiting. It's also the best thing about them.

They aren't asking for much. Room to run, someone patient with the shy one, and a family with enough love for two.
