It’s been a while, so I thought I’d share some recent projects. This one was a wide plank top nailed maple floor I refinished earlier this year. Stained spice brown with the finish tinted to make it slightly darker and more uniform. The bucket of finish looked like chocolate milk. Stained maple isn’t for everyone, but I was happy with how this one came out and my clients were thrilled (they were just wonderful).

Here is a refinish I just wrapped up. My client wanted to brighten the space up a bit and reduce the yellow in his southern yellow pine floors. Sanded the floor nice and flat and finished it off with super durable Invisible Protect for the natural look.

Here’s one I recently completed. Replaced the outdated hardwood and carpet in hallway and bedrooms with 6” livesawn white oak, finished with a natural 2k waterborne finish that maintains the natural beauty of the raw wood. Made the red oak treads look more like white oak and finished those as well. Downstairs, I sanded the original pine boards and finished them with Invisible finish. I didn’t take many finished pics of upstairs to share.

The floor I did at the Meredith Public Library for Milestone Engineering last year was featured in a recent article in Wood Floor Business Magazine. This was a challenging but extremely rewarding project for me. Read more about it here:

Zach Lunt, owner/craftsman at New Hampshire Wood Flooring LLC in Concord, N.H., refinished the floors at the Meredith Public Library in Meredith, N.H., where his great-grandmother worked starting in 1922.

Did you know that there is no such thing as 100% dust-free floor sanding?

The term “dustless” is often used to describe powerful dust containment systems that virtually eliminate the dust created during the sanding process. These powerful vacuum systems are very effective, but in the hands of a careless contractor they will only do so much. So the term “dustless” does not tell the whole story.

A true craftsman is conscious of controlling dust through every step of the process, but his main concern is producing a furniture-quality floor that will last a lifetime, and that he and his clients can be proud of.

This is a glimpse of our dust containment system. On the left is our AVAC26, a powerful vacuum specifically designed for sanding wood floors. On the right is a cyclone dust separator (this one happens to be homemade). The separator collects almost all of the dust created by the sander before it reaches the vacuum, which keeps the vacuum running at full strength and not bogged down with dust

2021 was an exciting year for New Hampshire Wood Flooring. We had the opportunity to work on many unique and challenging floors. While I continue to envision big things for the future, I have tried to keep myself open to new ideas - doing things others aren’t willing to, pushing myself to create something different and beautiful. It’s a thrill to see the direction this craft is taking me, and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.

It’s been a couple weeks of invisible finish. This finish is very durable, nice and soft on your feet, and looks like the floor is bare wood.
