Hey Kansas friends! 🦟
With tick season hitting hard and starting earlier this year, the little bloodsuckers are out in force across the state. Along with the usual risks like Lyme disease, there’s a big rise in alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) — that tick bite-triggered allergy to red meat (beef, pork, etc.) that can cause serious reactions hours later. Lone Star ticks are the main culprits, and cases are climbing here in Kansas.6
Protect yourself and your family:
• Use bug spray with DEET or other EPA-approved repellents.
• Wear long sleeves, long pants (tuck pants into socks!), and light-colored clothing so ticks are easier to spot.
• Do full-body tick checks after being outdoors.
• Consider having your yard and high-traffic areas professionally treated for ticks and pests.
Stay safe out there — enjoy the beautiful weather, but don’t let the ticks ruin it! Share this with your fellow Kansans. 👍
