Another concrete patio replacement is officially underway! The old, tired concrete is OUT, and our crew has been busy getting everything prepped for what’s coming next:

A little before & after action from a recent property improvement project where the goal was simple: make the space more accessible, modern, and ready for what comes next.

🏡 Transformation #1:
This sloped side of the home was previously difficult to access. We installed railroad tie stairs to create a safer, easier path while keeping the solution affordable, functional, and attractive.

🌲 Transformation #2:
An overgrown row of arborvitae and uneven ground needed a fresh start. After removing the existing trees, we smoothed and reshaped the area, getting it prepped and ready for new privacy landscaping.

🔨 Transformation #3:
Out with the old deck boards and in with gorgeous new cedar! We replaced the worn existing boards with fresh cedar decking and finished it off with sleek RDI black aluminum railing. The combination of warm natural wood and crisp black railing gave this deck a serious upgrade without requiring a complete rebuild.

Not every project needs to be a massive overhaul to make a BIG difference in how you use and enjoy your property. We just wrapped up one of our favorite custom concrete projects to date! Nearly 2,200 square feet, featuring the stunning 16” Gilpin’s Falls wood plank stamp, and finished with black powder release surface antiquing to create that rich weathered barn-wood look. Every plank, grain pattern, knot, and color variation is concrete!

These clients wanted a virtually maintenance free vacation property they could enjoy year round. The finished results give them just that! The massive patio gives the charm of rustic wood, but the durability of concrete. And the white vinyl fencing gives a clean and polished look without the worry of rotting or warping. Just years of making memories!

This project started by removing an old cracked, uneven slab before carefully prepping, pouring, and finishing a brand-new patio that will be enjoyed for years to come. And can we talk about that color?! Tierra integral color has officially become one of our favorites… we’re obsessed!

🌱 Extra Mile: This Dad takes a LOT of pride in his lawn (we totally get it) so we made sure to protect it every step of the way by tracking our equipment across plywood to minimize any impact. It’s the little things that matter, and we treat every property like it’s our own.

🚧 Who You Hire Matters 🚧

Not all contractors are created equal—and unfortunately, we’re reminded of that all too often!

This shop should have been ready to use more than a year ago, after a tree fell on it and it was “repaired” by another contractor. Instead, we’re here replacing all of the trusses after the previous installation left the structure deemed unsafe and unusable by a structural engineer.

Situations like this are more than frustrating. They cost homeowners time, money, and peace of mind. In cases like this, they can even become a serious safety hazard.

At Patrick and Sons, we believe doing the job right the first time isn’t just good business—it’s the responsibility that comes with building something people depend on and the respect clients deserve. That means following proper building practices, paying attention to the details, and never cutting corners!
