Forest Management=Wildlife Management

If your ash trees have given up the ghost there’s a good chance you will need to do some intensive mechanical and chemical management if you want good wildlife habitat and timber in the future.

Doing some forest management today — thinning a hemlock stand to boost the health of treated hemlocks, let more sunlight reach the ground for new hardwood growth, and create better wildlife habitat for ruffed grouse and turkeys! 🌲

The guys were definitely put to the test this morning trying to figure out how to haul a bunch of trees to the job site. Railroad tracks said “nope,” so the river it is!

Here’s a little sneak peek into a day in the life at West Wildlife! 🦝
This clever raccoon thought he’d found the perfect spot to settle in for the cold months ahead. It took a bit of patience, but we were able to safely get him out. Now our team can make the necessary repairs to ensure he doesn’t make a return anytime soon!

When someone calls about injured wildlife — West Wildlife is at your service! 🦅
We received a call from a local campus expressing concern for both the safety of their community and a juvenile hawk spotted on the grounds.
Thanks to the careful efforts of Tim Frisbee, the young hawk was safely removed and is now in good hands with a local rehabber.
