We have had numerous customers gasp in awe and shake their head in disgust as they are under the impression that these are spider or cob webs. However they are not spider webs and aren't due to the lack of your housekeeping skills. They actually are formed from the carbon and tar that gets released as a fire burns. These synthetic soot particles cling together to form chains of soot, they form in areas of low circulation and you will notice them more commonly along an outside wall or corner where it is cooler.

These are dry cleaning sponges, also referred to as "Chemical sponges". They're used for the removal of soot from ceilings, walls, and various content items. They consist of tiny porous cells that lift away soot quickly without causing any streaking.
When cleaning soot, the first step is always a dry cleaning method, as once a liquid cleaning agent is introduced it may cause streaking and set in stains.
