Had a call for busted pvc on a backflow preventer. Arrived to find a landscaper had driven his machine into a fence and busted the piping to the backflow preventer. After digging up the pipe I found it was damaged up to the underground sprinkler valve . After making the repair the customer had told me he couldn't get any other Plumbing companies to come out in such a short notice. In case of a emergency involving water its always good to know where your homes shut off valve is. If it isn't in working condition it will be more costly in the long run. Make sure it shuts off the water completely and know how to drain the system down at a outdoor faucet .
