Today we’re remembering Johnny Burns, one of the original owners of Buffington-Burns Electric. Johnny founded the company in 1980 and led it until his retirement in 2001. His hard work and vision helped build the foundation we stand on today.

We’re saddened to hear of his passing and grateful for the legacy he left behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.

Harold Danforth's journey from a college dropout to the owner of Buffington Burns Electric Company is a testament to hard work and dedication.

Starting as a summer helper, he navigated the challenges of gaining acceptance into the competitive apprenticeship training program, eventually working tirelessly for over two decades with one contractor. Seizing the opportunity to buy the company 22 years ago, Harold has turned his success into a family tradition, bringing his cousin, son, daughter, and son-in-law into the electrical trade.

His advice to apprentices reflects his own experience—emphasizing the importance of a strong skillset, reputation, and work ethic. The photos capturing different milestones, from Harold's apprentice days to his son's graduation, illustrate the generational impact of a flourishing career in the electrical industry. For Harold and his family, the electrical trade has not only provided a livelihood but also a source of personal blessings and fulfillment.

Meet Beni, a rising apprentice, and one the the next MVPs of the Electrical Industry

Beni has always been interested in working with his hands. Growing up, he helped his dad and uncles as often as I could with construction projects. Over the years, his love of working in construction grew, but his eyes were also opened to the trades, and he knew he wanted to learn (and master) a trade. As high school graduation approached, earning his electrical license was at the top of the list and that's when he connected with Buffington-Burns Electric.

Beni was able to work with Buffington-Burns (AECA member) before even graduating from high school which gave him on the job training and showed him all the exciting opportunities available through electrical trade. Through his experience, Beni is confident he will be in the top of his class in school, and that he has chosen a great career.

Become and MVP like Beni: https://bit.ly/3dq73BU

Have you seen our blog post about commercial electricians?

"Electricians come in all kinds of roles, from residential to commercial, and each has their own skillset and areas they typically work in. Commercial electricians are an important part of a business's team as they help keep the building safe and up to code. It's up to everyone else to maintain the proper power usage, however. In fact, idle power is a major energy consumer, with the average desktop computer using around 80 watts of power when turned off. According to Electric Choice, approximately 75% of the power used in most American homes is actually used when products are turned off."
