Closing out Thursday and the last full stretch of August with the inbox open one more time.

Maria's design floor answered 47 kitchen questions before lunch. Quoted 14 kitchens on the phone this afternoon. Shipped 63 free sample boxes out the Hollywood door.

The question we heard most this week: 'If I order this weekend, is my kitchen going to make Thanksgiving.'

Honest calendar math. Today is 12 weeks and 6 days before Thanksgiving. Cabinets ship in 72 hours from order. Assembled orders in as few as 3 weeks. That leaves you weeks of buffer for a plumber, a countertop template, and the day the electrician cancels. Yes. You make it.

If you are sitting on a sketch, send it. Free design, no pressure. Link in bio, or just DM Maria the photo.

Thursday morning, and Maria's design floor already answered 41 questions before lunch.

Three we are posting because if one person asked, six more are wondering.

1. Amelia in Fort Wayne: 'Will Shaker Antique White look yellow next to my white subway tile.' Honest answer: subway tile reads cool. Antique White reads warm cream. Order the free sample, tape it to the tile, and look at it at 6pm. If the tile still reads cool next to it, you like it. If the cream fights the tile, go Shaker Dove.

2. Wren in Albany: 'Can I do Shaker Cinder in a 10 by 11 kitchen without it feeling like a cave.' Yes, IF you keep the walls light, the counter light, and the backsplash light. Cinder lowers, Dove uppers is the safe move.

3. Jules in Fresno: '36 inch vanity for two of us in the morning, mistake.' In a hallway bath, no. In a real primary bath, yes if you can go to 48. We quoted 48 inch Shaker Grey for two customers this week for exactly this reason.

Inbox is open through Friday. Ask.

Closing Wednesday with the last inbox round-up before the end of August.

Maria's design floor answered 58 kitchen questions and quoted 41 kitchens before lunch today. Three of them lined up so cleanly we wanted to post the answers in case you are sitting on the same version.

1. From Kai in Portland: 'Can I do a Shaker Dove perimeter with a navy island if my floor is a warm oak.' Yes. The oak keeps the room from going cold. Anchor the pendants and hardware in unlacquered brass so the warm and the cool have a bridge.

2. From Rosa in Tucson: 'Is 36 inches enough between my island and my range if two people cook.' Honest answer, no. 42 is our floor and it is the number Maria does not negotiate on. If you cannot get 42, shrink the island.

3. From Devon in Raleigh: 'Ordered samples, three of them look almost identical on my counter. How do I decide.' Tape them to the wall you look at most. Come back at 7am and 7pm. The one that still looks like itself in both is your answer.

DMs are open until 5pm Eastern. If you have a version of any of these, send it. We read every one.

Wednesday tip from Maria's design floor. The one number that keeps tripping people up on their first sketch: cabinet DEPTH.

Standard base cabinets are 24 inches deep. Uppers are 12 inches. Vanities are 21 inches.

Here is what that means in your real kitchen.

1. Your counter overhangs the base by about 1.5 inches. So a 24 inch base gives you roughly 25.5 inches of countertop depth from wall to edge.

2. If you are drawing your kitchen at 24 inches from wall to counter edge, you are 1.5 inches short every single run. That is where the toe-kick disappears and the dishwasher will not fit flush.

3. In a bath, do not swap a 21 inch vanity into a 24 inch niche and expect it to look intentional. Order the 24 inch. We stock both for a reason.

Maria walked two customers back from this exact mistake yesterday. Save this before you finalize.

Order the free 5 door sample box at whitecabinet.com and send us your sketch. We will pencil the depths in for you.

Tuesday tip from Maria's design floor. Save this before you finalize your kitchen plan.

The sink base is the cabinet people order wrong the most, and the fix is one measurement.

Here is the trap. You go to the appliance store and fall in love with a 33 inch farmhouse sink. You come home, look at your plan, and order a 33 inch sink base cabinet.

The 33 inch farmhouse sink does NOT fit in a 33 inch sink base. It fits in a 36 inch sink base. The sink dimension is the sink itself. The base dimension has to allow for the cabinet frame, the mounting rails, and the front-apron cutout. Rule of thumb, and Maria uses this on every quote: sink base is 3 inches wider than the sink.

30 inch sink, 33 inch base.
33 inch sink, 36 inch base.
36 inch sink, 39 inch base (a special order but doable).

And for a standard double-bowl drop-in, keep the base at least 33 inches. Anything narrower and you lose the dishwasher plumbing route below.

We walked three customers back from a wrong sink base last week alone. Do not be number four.

Opening the last full week of August the way we close every Friday. The inbox is open.

Maria's design floor answered 68 kitchen questions and quoted 62 kitchens last week. This morning at 8:47, the count is already at 14. Here are the three that keep landing:

1. 'Is it too late to have a kitchen for Thanksgiving.' Not yet. It is thirteen weeks. If you order samples this week and the design next week, we can make Nov 23. Wait until Labor Day and it gets tight.
2. 'Shaker Dove vs Shaker Antique White in a north-facing kitchen.' Dove wins by a mile. Antique White reads yellow when the light is cool. We have shipped the same two-door comparison pack 47 times this month for this exact question.
3. 'Can I do navy lowers under white uppers if I only have one window.' Yes, but do Shaker Dove on the uppers, not Antique White. The cool white balances the navy. Antique White plus navy fights.

If any of these is you, DM the room dimensions and a photo. Free, no obligation, human on the other end.

i was not made for a basic kitchen. i would design your layout if you didn't know where to start, source every white shaker cabinet if you didn't have the time, ship your order nationwide knowing you'd want it faster, give you free design support so you never remodel alone, and spend hours getting every detail right if you didn't feel confident choosing it yourself.
