700 SQUARE FEET OF OUTDOOR LIVING ☀️

We just wrapped up this beautiful 700 square foot custom deck, and we’re really proud of how this one came together.

This project included a large deck, a dedicated concrete pad for a hot tub, and a custom privacy fence. We built the deck on concrete pilings with adjustable hardware, used stainless steel fasteners throughout and applied joist tape to the tops of the joists and beams to help protect the framing from moisture.

We also put a lot of thought into water management. We installed French drainage and routed the gutter drains underground and underneath the deck so water could be properly moved away from the structure and surrounding areas.

On the Oregon Coast, those details matter. A deck can look great when it’s finished, but how it’s built underneath and how it handles moisture can make a huge difference over the years.

We’re big believers in doing the details right, even the ones you’ll never see once the project is finished.

It was a fun project to build, and we love how much usable outdoor space this created for the homeowners.

Why Clean Jobsites Matter to Us:

A clean & organized jobsite is more than just something that looks professional. We consider it an important part of quality workmanship and responsible construction.

At Turning Tides Tradesman, we make it a priority to maintain clean jobsites throughout the project, not just when we're finished.

Why does it matter?

-Safety- Keeping debris, tools, fasteners and materials organized helps reduce trip hazards, sharp-object hazards & other risks for our crew, customers, children, pets & anyone else using the property.

-Protecting the Property- Proper cleanup helps prevent damage to landscaping, siding, flooring, vehicles, tires & other areas around the worksite.

- Better Organization - A clean work area allows our crew to work more efficiently, find tools and materials more easily & identify potential hazards before they become problems.

Less Disruption: Construction is already an inconvenience for homeowners. Keeping the site orderly helps minimize the impact on their daily lives & keeps access areas more usable.

- Respect for the Customer - We're working on someone's home, not just a jobsite. Taking care of the property demonstrates the same level of respect we want our customers to receive throughout the entire project.

A contractor's workmanship shouldn't only be measured by what they build. How they treat the property while they're building it matters too.

For us, keeping a clean and organized jobsite is simply part of doing the job right.

Why hiring a contractor familiar with coastal conditions matters.

Building and maintaining a home on the Oregon Coast is not the same as building in other areas.

Our homes deal with constant moisture, heavy rain, wind-driven water, salt air and moss growth. These conditions can quickly expose shortcuts or improper installation that may not show up right away.

Contractors from outside the area may be skilled, but local experience matters. Understanding how coastal weather affects roofing, siding, decks, flashing, and exterior materials makes a big difference in the long-term performance of the work.

A good contractor doesn't just install materials, they understand how those materials will hold up in the environment they are being installed in.

At Turning Tides Tradesman LLC, we focus on building and repairing homes with Oregon Coast conditions in mind. Proper preparation, quality materials and attention to the details that protect your home are what help projects last.

When choosing a contractor you need to consider more than just the price. Choose someone who understands the conditions your home faces year after year.

Don't let a small pile of debris turn into a major roof leak.

This photo is a great example of why regular roof maintenance matters. It may not look like much, but the buildup of needles, twigs, leaves and moss in a roof valley can create serious problems over time.

A roof valley is designed to collect and channel large amounts of rainwater off your roof. When debris accumulates in that area, water can't flow freely. Instead, it begins to back up, increasing the chance that water will work its way underneath the shingles. Once water gets below the roofing system it can lead to leaks, damaged decking, mold growth, insulation damage and costly interior repairs.

Moss creates another issue. It holds moisture against the shingles, preventing them from drying properly. Over time, that constant moisture can accelerate shingle deterioration, loosen the protective granules and shorten the life of your roof. As moss grows, it can even lift the edges of shingles, making them more vulnerable to wind and water intrusion.

Routine roof maintenance is one of the most cost-effective ways to protect your home. Regular inspections and debris removal help:

○Keep roof valleys draining properly.

○Reduce the risk of leaks and water damage.

○Prevent moss from taking hold and damaging shingles.

○Extend the lifespan of your roofing system.

○Catch small problems before they become expensive repairs.

A roof doesn't have to be leaking to need attention. Preventive maintenance can add years to the life of your roof and help you avoid unexpected repair bills.

A clean roof is more than just curb appeal. It's an investment in protecting your home.

We have successfully transformed this worn-out composite shingle roof into a durable, low-maintenance 50-year roof by installing standing seam metal roofing in a lovely Forest Green.

The previous roofing system lacked proper ventilation, which resulted in the shop being uncomfortably hot and humid. To address this, we incorporated a vented ridge and stainless steel soffit intakes. This significantly enhances energy efficiency, moisture management and improves overall comfort.

Please feel free to contact us today for a complimentary estimate regarding your roofing replacement or repair needs.

Our expertise encompasses composite shingle, metal, and membrane flat roofing systems.

Before and after of another beautiful paint job completed by our amazing crew.

A lot of people think painting a house is just applying paint, but a quality paint job is actually a complete paint system.

It starts with proper preparation:
• Cleaning the surface
• Scraping and sanding failing paint
• Repairing damaged areas
• Treating rusting nails
• Caulking and sealing gaps
• Priming bare wood and repairs
• Applying premium finish coats

The paint is only one part of the process. The preparation underneath is what makes the difference between a paint job that looks good for a season and one that protects your home for years.

Here on the Oregon Coast, proper preparation matters. Salt air, moisture, and weather are tough on homes, and we build our paint systems to handle those conditions.

We just wrapped up this paint job on a house that was built in the 1950s. We are a lead paint, repair, and renovation certified firm. Luckily the house tested negative for lead which made the job much easier when it came to prep. Did you know that in Oregon your contractor has to carry a lead paint certificate in order to bid on homes that are older than 1978 due to the risks of lead paint? Don't let a contractor expose your kids, pets, or loved ones to lead dust contamination. Make sure they carry the proper licensing and certification to work on your home safely! 🌊

We are excited to share before and after photos of a project we just wrapped up. We took this worn-out greenhouse with plastic roofing and siding and turned it into a beautiful shop using 26-gauge snap-lock standing seam metal siding and roofing, featuring a custom-built door and a 28x14-foot, 4-inch concrete slab reinforced with rebar and high-strength fiber.

If you are wondering what metal roof or a shop with a 40 year warranty costs, please dont hesitate to reach out.
