Happy Monday! It’s gonna be a pretty stormy week of weather here in Central Texas and the Austin-area.

The first widespread round of rain and storms will be Tuesday evening into Tuesday night.

There is a level 2 of 5 severe storm risk for Austin and the Hill Country with hail and strong winds being the main threats.

After this round, I expect multiple more opportunities for heavy rain and storms through the rest of the week.

Tuesday will be another day where the highest severe weather risk will be north of Central Texas, but we once again have the potential for a few strong storms during the afternoon & early evening. Large hail would be the biggest concern with storms Tuesday

HIGHLY CONDITIONAL THREAT OF SEVERE STORMS FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND

It will be warm and humid Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with highs in the upper 80s to near 90° and lows around 70°. Make sure you stay hydrated as your body adapts to the warmer conditions.

The pattern we are now in is one you would typically see in mid to late May. Ingredients for severe weather will be there every day, but a cap may prevent many storms from actually forming. So, this is a low storm chance...but...a high severe chance if storms can get going. Right now, the biggest threat would be very large hail. With all of this said, many of us will NOT see thunderstorms. However, keep an eye to the sky from 4 to 10pm each day just in case a storm develops.

A low-end severe risk has been introduced for Saturday late morning into the afternoon across parts of Texas! Elevated storms behind the cold front could produce quarter to half dollar size hail. An isolated instance of ping pong ball size hail cannot be ruled out. Since this is behind the front, a tornado risk is not a concern with these storms that develop behind the cold front
