The recent storms around the country should have opened everyone’s eyes to the importance of reliable emergency communications. In the even that there is impending weather related danger in your area, you want a communication device that is going to alert you 24/7 whether you have have power or not. One of the most important tools you can have in your bag is a good NOAA Weather Radio with SAME technology that will alert you based on your county or whatever county codes you want to monitor. Most come with batter backup and some officer Solar and/or hand crank options for emergency power. Midland makes some great radios but there are plenty of options out there. The Midland radios with the alert are very loud and will wake you up in the middle of the night or interrupt your task if there is weather related danger in your area. Worth every penny. 10/10 recommend.

Storm victims should strongly consider signing up for a FREE MEMBERSHIP with the American Policyholders Association. The APA is a watchdog group “that promotes integrity, honesty and best practices in the property loss adjustment sector of the insurance industry.”

This storm has potential for some major hail. Areas are already reporting damages so a good piece of advice is to everything under some cover that you want to avoid getting damaged.

If you don’t have photos or video of the property conditions before the storm, get some before it gets here. Take photos and videos during the storm if you have hail. Show hail next to a ruler, tape measure or anything that can help indicate the size.

If you have storm damage, documentation is one of your best assets if you need to engage your insurance carrier.
