Four Lakes Lawn Care Friends,
We are planning on getting on the lawns on Monday. The Lawns are already greening up! We will be putting down fertilizer and crabgrass pre emergent. We'll start up with w**d control once the w**ds start emerging. If you have a shaded lawn with snow on it still or if it is still too soft for an application, we will hold off. With the snow that we received today and the storm coming this weekend, I'm calling it the end to the lawn season for the year.
Thank you, everyone, for another great lawn season! There were some tough weather situations, as usual, but we got through it and all ended up just fine.
Here is some stats from the 2025 season:
Four Lakes Lawn Care ended up with 1038 customers, which was pretty equal to the 2024 season.
We preformed about 4700 w**d and feed treatments
107 lawn insect control treatments
63 aerations, 32 with seed
36 tree and shrub sprays/fertilizings
19 grub control applications
7 lime/black gypsum treatments
plus a few other miscellaneous treatments.....
I'm already looking forward to a great 2026 lawn season!

Unfortunately the atmospheric sprinkler has turned off....
The lawns are, Unfortunately, getting brown and hard.....
Because of this I am ending the aeration season.
We will finish up the ones that are scheduled for this year. Depending on the rainfall coming.....
If you have friends and or family looking for a fall fertilizer, let me know.

I hope that everyone is enjoying their green, w**d free lawn!
The weather this year has been amazing to keep the turf lush and green. But, obviously, with all the rain and warm weather, the crabgrass and broadleaf w**ds were more hard to prevalent than the past couple of years. We worked hard on keeping them under control, but it has been a challenge! But, at least all is green!
With all the rain (and the recent cool weather), it is a great year to have your lawn aerated, especially if you haven't in the past few years!

Carter will be going back to School in Toronto in a week!

I hope that everyone is enjoying their green lawn!
I know that the w**ds are popping....
W**d control doesn't work great until the temperature gets above 50 degrees. We don't start spraying early to prevent w**ds, w**ds have to be present to absorb the w**d control to die. We more start spraying early to put down more crab grass preventer. We add crabgrass preventer to the spray along with the w**d control. Crab grass preventer is also in our fertilizer mix. Most companies only put down 1 treatment of crabgrass preventer, with four Lakes Lawn Care, most customers get 3 applications of it....
Please be patient with the w**ds, we'll be spraying them in round 2, starting next week.

Spring is here!
We are starting our treatments! The early treatments will be fertilizer and annual grass preemergent. We will start adding w**d control in a week or so, once broadleaf w**ds start to emerge.

It's getting closer to lawn season!
I try to start going as soon as spring hits.
Our projected start is to be on March 24th. But, the frost line is pretty deep this year and it has to fall below 4 inches before we can start fertilizing. If we start too early, the fertilizer can just run off into the local water ways.....
We are planning on starting on time, but all will be fine if we are a week or so delayed.

Unfortunately, I lost an employee.
We are still going to attempt to treat the lawn on a timely manner, but, we might be a little delayed into the fall. If there are any issues with this, please let me know.

I hope everyone are enjoying their nice green lawns this season!
Last year the drought posed a difficult situation for Four Lakes Lawn Care, this year the complete opposite! This year, with the abundance of moisture and normal summer heat, a lot of lawns have some fungal issues.
If you see some brown or slightly red spots in your lawn its probably a lawn fungus....
It is usually nothing to worry too much about, but if it is worrying you, ley me know, and I will let you know if it should be treated. The treatments are expensive, that's why I'd suggest to "give it time" to work itself out.

Fyi....
This spring has been tough with the rainy weather! I will never complain about rain, but the past couple weeks have been crazy! If we get pounded again tonight and tomorrow, we are going to give the lawns a few days to dry out. We might do a few lawns that we can use the push spreader on, but bigger lawns will have to wait....
I need to concentrate on the health of the lawns, not just the timeline!
