This is how we build and use french drains in landscaping to prevent water damage and mitigate water problems. We frequently hear people use the term French drain without understanding exactly what they are or what they’re used for. They do have a specific purpose — we use them to quickly move water away from an area to a different location. When combined with a dry well they can be a great solution for moving water away from the house, foundation or other places where you don’t want water accumulation. Definitely less expensive than repairing flooding inside your home!
