Had the pleasure of watching Cranemasters Inc operate at a train derailment this week in town. 6 train cars carrying liquid propane derailed and slid into the Willimantic river. There were no injuries and luckily no release of the propane. I’ve seen the rail company operate before and I’m always impressed with the incredible ability to mobilize and mitigate a problem with a complete no BS attitude in very high profile scenes. This was no exception. In less than 24hrs the subcontractor was on scene with 3 specialty cranes, 3 heavily customized cat 335F excavators and a large winch dozer. By the end of the following day all 6 cars were out of the river and relocated into a field where they can be loaded into to new rail cars and shipped out.
