🚨 40 YEARS OF SERVICE... AND IT WAS STILL RUNNING. 🤯

As a pool repair company, we see plenty of old equipment. We've replaced countless filters and serviced pools that have been around for decades.

But every once in a while, a job comes along that makes you stop and appreciate just how well something was built.

This cartridge filter had been in continuous service since 1986. That's 40 years of operation, maintained by the same homeowner from the day it was installed.

Believe it or not, the filter itself wasn't the reason it had to be replaced.

The only thing that finally brought it to the end of its life was the large gasket that seals the top and bottom halves together. The homeowner spent weeks searching for the correct size, shape, and orientation, but after four decades, that specific gasket is no longer manufactured.

After exhausting every option, the homeowner decided to have their warranty company replace the filter, and they trusted E2 Anderson Pool Care & Repair Inc. to handle the job.

Installing the new filter wasn't as simple as swapping one out. The original filter had a very compact footprint, and the homeowner wanted the plumbing layout to remain as close to the original as possible. It definitely didn't go together perfectly on the first attempt, but with some problem-solving and a few adjustments, we made it happen. The finished installation looks clean, functions perfectly, and is ready for many years of service.

Here's hoping this new filter gives them another 40 years of dependable operation. 💪

🏊‍♂️ By far one of the most memorable projects of the year… if not my entire career.

Some jobs are just repairs. Others become experiences you never forget. This was one of those projects.

From the very beginning, this pool presented challenge after challenge, requiring patience, problem solving, and an incredible amount of hands-on restoration work. But standing back and seeing the final result made every long day completely worth it.

Over the course of 6–7 full work days, we completely transformed this pool through a combination of structural repair, cosmetic restoration, and safety upgrades.

✅ Full Chlorine & Acid Wash RestorationThe entire pool surface underwent an extensive chlorine and acid wash process to strip away years of staining, buildup, discoloration, and restore brightness back into the finish. This process takes precision and patience to avoid damaging the surface while bringing life back into the pool.

✅ Hand Rail InstallationInstalled a brand-new safety handrail above the shallow-end stairs to improve accessibility, stability, and peace of mind when entering and exiting the pool.

✅ Hazardous Concrete Crack RepairA major crack had formed near the deep-end ladder, creating both a structural concern and safety hazard. We repaired the damaged concrete and stabilized the affected area to restore both function and appearance.

✅ LED Pool Light UpgradeUpgraded the outdated pool light to a brighter, energy-efficient LED system, dramatically improving visibility and giving the pool a much cleaner nighttime appearance.

✅ Structural Crack Repair (Shallow End)One of the more technical repairs on this project involved addressing cracking in the shallow end of the pool. We performed carbon fiber stitching reinforcement followed by plaster repair to help strengthen and stabilize the affected section while blending it back into the pool surface.

✅ Ladder Bumper InstallationInstalled ladder bumpers to help protect the pool surface from future wear and impact damage caused by ladder movement over time.

This project demanded a tremendous amount of troubleshooting, adaptability, and attention to detail. There were moments that required stepping back, reevaluating, and finding the right solution instead of the easy one. Those are the jobs that sharpen your craft.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take on a project of this scale and even more thankful for the trust placed in us to bring it back to life.

⚠️ SPA COPING FALLING APART? THIS IS WHAT FAILURE LOOKS LIKE ⚠️

Another spa brought back to life by E2 Anderson Pool Care & Repair 💪

This raised spa had multiple loose and failing coping pavers that had completely separated, shifted, and started falling apart. What looked like “just loose stones” was actually a much deeper failure underneath.

🚨 What caused this?

When we removed the coping, the original mortar bed underneath was EXTREMELY deteriorated. In many areas, it had become so weak that we could literally remove it with a flathead screwdriver.

Instead of being strong and bonded, the mortar had turned into a dry powder-like material with almost no structural integrity left.

Why does this happen over time?

☀️ Years of Florida heat and expansion/contraction💦 Constant moisture exposure and water intrusion❄️ Seasonal temperature swings causing movement🏠 Ground settling and structural shifting🧪 Pool chemistry exposure over many years

Over time, mortar can slowly break down, lose bonding strength, and begin separating from both the bond beam and coping stones. Once that happens, coping starts loosening, grout begins cracking, and eventually sections can lift, rock, or completely detach.

Ignoring it usually turns a “small repair” into a much bigger problem.

We got called out for what started as a massive restoration project. This pool had been neglected for so long it looked less like a backyard oasis and more like the Florida Everglades had filed a homestead exemption on it. 🌿🐊

The project included replacing BOTH liner skimmers, fiberglassing cracked pool stairs, and completely overhauling the equipment system. The water was straight swamp green. You couldn’t see six inches into it. Honestly, if someone told me Shrek was paying HOA dues there, I would’ve believed them.

While testing out our brand new vacuum system we had just invested in and absolutely nuking the pool with shock treatment, the green finally started turning crystal clear. We were feeling proud… right up until the moment the water cleared near the deep-end ladder.

Sitting there. Motionless. Ancient. Judging us.

A snapping turtle the size of a hubcap.

Not a baby one either. This thing looked like it survived the asteroid that took out the dinosaurs and somehow retired into this pool afterward. 🦖

I’ve seen some wild creatures in pools over the years… frogs, snakes, raccoons, enough lizards to start a pet store… but this was my first encounter with a species that has survived millions of years and could absolutely remove several of my fingers and toes if I made one wrong life decision.

And honestly? I couldn’t even blame the turtle for mistaking the pool as a swamp. There really wasn’t much difference in water quality at that point. 😂

To make things even better, we discovered the snapper apparently had a roommate. A tiny little mud turtle was also living its best life in there like they had signed a year lease together.

Good news though: both turtles were safely relocated to our backyard lake where they now have plenty of food, freedom, and significantly less chlorine.

Meanwhile, the pool is officially being reclaimed by humanity one repair at a time. 💪
