This summer, we had a special opportunity to work with an intern, Ken Nguyen, from our partnership with City of San José Works Department and Anthony Quihuis. We were very excited to provide him with the opportunity to work with Virtual Design in Construction in Revit, a platform he hasn’t worked with before. Although Ken already has experience working with a general contractor from the internship program last year, we were able to show him the work of fire alarm, two-way communications, and ERCES in our field. The growth, guidance, and experience Intrepid provided him were noted by Ken as invaluable. A quote from Ken: “Construction is one of many industries I'm passionate about, but I've learned that construction has treated me exceptionally well, and I've come prepared with the skillset needed to succeed in this industry, and so I will continue to build my career around it.” Pictured below is Ken's work in Revit and 3D modeling.

We appreciate San Jose Works for the chance to provide mentorship to young, bright minds. Thanks to them, we have onboarded a few past interns! Thank you to Ken, Anthony Q., and San Jose Works for this amazing Summer. We look forward to more opportunities in the future!

Nearly a year ago, Intrepid earned a National Electrical Contractors Association - NECA project excellence award for the Hayward Unified School District Performing Arts Center at Mt. Eden High School.

This 24,000 square foot facility, including a 500-seat auditorium, orchestra pit, and cutting-edge AV system, serves the 19,000 students of Mt. Eden and the Hayward community.

Our contribution to the project included:
🔺 A Notifier 3030 fire alarm system with voice capabilities
🔺 VESDA aspirating detection over the stage and seating
🔺 A two-way communication system
🔺 Emergency responder Communication Enhancement System ERCES

A unique highlight: we integrated the fire alarm with a custom automated acoustical shell system, which was one of only two of its kind in California at the time. This system ensured that in the event of a VESDA alarm or water flow, water was able to reach the stage.

At the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Conference, companies in industries focused on fire prevention, wildfire preparedness, electrical safety, hazardous materials, building and life safety, community risk reduction, and public safety gather to network, learn, and showcase innovative products. It was amazing to meet with our partners, Honeywell, AES Corporation, BuildingReports, and Rapid Response Monitoring

Thank you, Tiffany Nguyen, for extending our knowledge by attending the 2025 Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) AI in Fire Engineering Summit! 👏

During her time at the summit, the Society of Fire Protection Engineers highlighted how AI has grown in the fire/life safety world. They showcased a student life researcher project that utilized AI solutions for indoor and outdoor firefighting efforts and prevention.

Tiffany mentioned how it was good to hear from professionals about the future of AI and how there are shortages in structured, usable data. She thought it was validating to hear some of our ideas mentioned during the summit, it is proof that there is a demand for what we are working on (i.e, automation in Autodesk's Revit, using AI to change our responses from reactive to proactive, using AI in life safety designs, and more).

Special shout-out to our employee, John Kahle! 🎉

John Kahle completed training at Oklahoma State University's BuildingReports University's Inspector's Boot Camp. During his time there, he completed 28 contact hrs of training and successfully passed the exam for Fire Alarm and Life Safety Basic Training! Not to mention, John was also specially recognized by Al Lanier for his endearing sportsmanship and deep comprehension of the topic.
