With grass and weeds hitting their driest stage, a couple hours of work now can make a world of difference later. During this time of year, things like ci******es, dragging chains, or a flat tire can easily spark a fire in the crispy vegetation on the side of the road.

This couple acres is located on the bottom of a hill, with several homes at the top. If left untreated, one spark could have easily ignited the grass, allowing fire to run directly to the hillside, and straight up towards homes. With just a couple hours of work, we were able create a much safer environment along the road, creating a nice fire break in the event of a fire along it.

We are able to perform this work safely by taking all necessary fire precautions, like mowing early in the morning, and having firefighting equipment on hand with us, and not working during red flag warnings.

This afternoon, we finished up a job on Juniper Butte in Culver. Working up there means navigating steep ground, and working around boulders, which can be overwhelming for homeowners to do themselves.

With a bit of hard work, we were able to make the property much more fire resistant. We started this business with the goal of making homes and communities ready for fire season. We also love giving homeowners peace of mind knowing that, in the event of a wildfire evacuation, their home and property stands a much better chance than it did before. We are proud to serve our friends and neighbors, and look forward to serving many more!

This is why we do what we do. The first couple photos were taken before we began work, about 2 weeks ago. The rest were taken after a wildfire was pushed up canyon, directly at this property. The fire did exactly what we wanted it to do when it hit the areas we worked. It burned far less intensely, and even stopped completely in some spots.

Defensible space really does make a difference, and this is a prime example, especially with the fires we are seeing this year. With a few hours of hard work, this property did not lose any structures. While we prefer to not have our work tested by fire, we are incredibly proud to see that our work made a difference.

With all the fires burning and evacuation levels expanding, we figured we'd help spread the word about the different evacuation levels to those who might not be aware. Make sure you are signed up for your local emergency alert system, and make sure you have a go bag ready with your essentials. Some important examples of essentials items include, medications, important documents, ect. These times can be extremely stressful, we can all make it easier by helping each other, checking on our neighbors who may not be aware of evacuation notices, and staying informed. Stay alert, and stay safe everyone!

Doing what we do best, making communities a bit safer, one property at a time! This property sits among several homes, and if left untreated, posed quite a risk in the event of fire.

We love what we do, and we are incredibly thankful to be able to help our friends and neighbors create a more fire safe environment. We can't stop fires from happening, but we can all pitch in and help Central Oregon become more fire safe!

From us here at Crooked River Defensible Space and Property Care, we'd like to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July! Let's all share the same goal of being extremely safe and not setting any fires, and returning to work Monday with all of our appendages!

One more property ready to take on fire season! This property featured trees with limbs to the ground, and heavy grass and sagebrush, creating an environment that fire would've used to become more intense, and more dangerous.

With a couple of days of hard work, we were able to create a property that is much easier to defend in the event that a fire comes knocking.
We do the hard work now, so that in the event of fire, firefighters can defend your home much easier, and give you peace of mind if you are facing evacuation, and have to leave.

And remember, being fire ready is more than just defensible space. Be sure to have a plan in place if you are told to evacuate, have your go bag ready with all of your essentials, go over the different evacuation levels, and what they mean. And get signed up for emergency alerts in your area.

One more property a bit more ready for fire season! And just in time for the first red flag warning of the summer.

As we get deeper into fire season, and especially on red flag days, please be careful when enjoying the outdoors. While we are confident in our work to help make properties fire ready, please don't put it to the test by being careless with fire, because that effects the community around you.
