Master Timber Framers are akin to Navy SEALs in their dedication and artistry.

In contrast to CNC shops, which operate like assembly lines focused on efficiency and mass production, hand-cut workshops are committed to the creation of beauty through exceptional skill and craftsmanship. The cultural divide between these two types of companies is significant. While CNC environments prioritize speed and output, our workshop is filled with artisans who value the nuances of their craft and the unique character that each piece represents.

This leads me to ask: Would you prefer to work in a setting that emphasizes lean Six Sigma principles, or one that celebrates the artistry of creating something beautiful with your hands?

My own journey into timber framing was ignited after spending 28 years in the SEAL Teams, where the commitment to mastering one's skills parallels that of a timber framer.

There's a poignant adage within the Special Forces community that resonates deeply: "Special Forces are not made overnight, nor are they mass-produced." This saying emphasizes the significance of dedication, training, and the distinctive qualities that set apart true excellence. Similarly, achieving mastery in our craft at Homestead Timber Frames demands time, commitment, and a genuine appreciation for the art of creation.

At the end of a long day, I’d much rather share a cold beer with a Timber Framer with Samurai like carpentry skills than a refrigerator.
