The Westport Island Project, Norton Builders Inc. built during Covid.
The house had been in the family for seven generations and was left to the owner. He and his wife decided to sell their place in Massachusetts and move to Maine permanently where he had spent all of his summers growing up.
We gutted the existing house and added a 20 x 40 addition. We saved the boarding boards off the exterior walls of the existing home and later plained them down to a uniform size and used the boards as flooring in the entry/ half- bath and kitchen area. We ended up doing many custom finishes for the clients.
There was never any plans or designs because everything happened quickly so either the night before or sometimes on the way to work that day - I would be given instructions for the day on what to build and where to build it. Sometimes, we built walls as I was on the phone with the owner and he would tell me exactly what he wanted. I’m flexible in this regard and like to see a quality job and have it done well.
The project went great and everything fell into place just like it was supposed to even though it was during the Covid time period. There was longer wait times on windows , kitchen cabinets, the garage door and the list went on. This was one of my favorite projects and the owner and I are still friends to this day. 🙏🏼
* During this job, I found many highly qualified professionals who still work with me.
Norton Builders Inc. has expanded our area of work from the Portland area, to now include my hometown of Rockland plus Camden/Rockport and the coastal towns in between.
