So a little story time. I don’t usually do things like this but after what we’ve dealt with, and passing by many dollar general locations today, I figured I’d bring some light to this situation.
Have you ever passed by a Dollar General location and see their grass always has an area that’s not cut? A ditch or just only half the property is cut? I mean look at the larose location on the north side the intercostal. From the road you can’t even see the store bc the front is so overgrown. That is every location. Well here’s the reason behind it. Dollar general has a terrible company managing their properties.
This year we got hired by Mirror Lawn - Turf Doctor INC. to service multiple Dollar General locations. When we arrived to the first few locations we noticed they was all very overgrown. Every location in Larose, Houma, Dulac, and both locations in Montegut had a big area that hasn’t been cut in years. We took it upon ourselves to get everything back looking decent. The next we heard from mirror lawn was they was only paying $60 per cut. Some of these properties are over a couple acres. Which I agreed to the contract so when it became just a lost for us, we told mirror lawn we wasn’t cutting it anymore until they can come up with more money. Payroll and gas was costing more than they was willing to pay. We ended up keeping 3 of the locations. 2 in larose, and the one in Bourg. Their contract stated that we send in an invoice at the end of the month, and they have 30 days to pay. Cool. The first month goes by, no check. I start questioning it and after 3 weeks (after the 30 days) they finally sent me the payment for the first month. Next month, no check. The following month, no check. I emailed mirror lawn multiple times. (I will also post the emails). They kept blaming it on not receiving the after photos. I emailed them the after photos on 4 separate occasions!! On the 3rd month of no payment, which was October, I quit cutting half way though the month. I told them I was not continuing until they paid me. They would come up with the excuse that they don’t have the photos, then stop answering my emails. I even offered to mail them printed copies or bring it to them in Tennessee. This went on for 3 months. I ended up telling them that I talked to a dollar general manager and they know everything that is going on and Melissa at mirror lawn got all defensive and said I have a contract with them, and not dollar general. Yesterday I sent my final email. I told them I was exposing how they run their business, letting dollar general know the entire situation, posting all the emails, pics, and tagging Angela Poe (mirror lawn supervisor), dollar general, and Mirror lawn and letting the entire world know what’s going on. Today they sent me most of the money they owed me through PayPal, but of course it was short. So here I am. I gave them months to make this right. And after talking to other companies that done work for them, it proved why none of the yards get completely cut, and why they can’t keep any lawncare companies working for them.
Dollar general really needs to look into this and think twice about continuing their contract. And this is also a warning to all my lawncare friends this reaches, to never do business with Mirror lawn Turf doctor. It is not worth it!
