TPO vs EPDM vs PVC.
The honest breakdown every facility manager needs before specifying a flat roof.
One of the most common questions our team gets from facility managers is which flat roof system they should actually be specifying. Here is the straightforward answer.
TPO is the most widely installed flat roof system in commercial construction right now. It offers excellent heat reflectivity and is cost effective across large roof footprints. It is also one of the easier systems to repair when something eventually comes up.
EPDM is exceptionally durable and performs well in extreme temperature climates. It is the standard choice for low-slope applications where long-term performance is the priority over everything else.
PVC offers superior chemical resistance and is the right specification for buildings with heavy HVAC loads, rooftop kitchens, or any kind of chemical exposure that would degrade other membranes faster.
The right answer depends entirely on your specific building, your budget, and where you are located. We have installed all three across Texas and would be happy to walk you through what makes the most sense for your facility.
