Once or twice a year it’s a good idea to test your AFCI breakers. Unfortunately this video doesn’t show you what they should do, but shows a couple examples of how you know they are bad!

The switch should automatically flip to the neutral position when you push test. To reset it, push it to off and then back to on.

The couple that do nothing when the test button is pushed and the one that makes a noise, followed by a sizzling sound, and smoke that you may not be able to see clearly in the video are in need of replacement.

If yours do anything like this video DO NOT attempt to turn them back on, we would appreciate the opportunity to help resolve this problem.
