your questions. our expertise. ⚡️

did you know you can always book your service with arc electric + lighting online?🙌

whether you know exactly what you need or simply know that something isn’t right, we make it easy to get started.

here’s the difference between our two most common service appointments:

✨ consultation
a consultation is perfect when you’re planning something new or need professional guidance before moving forward.

think:
• installing a new generator
• adding lighting
• remodeling or building
• upgrading your electrical panel
• adding outlets or circuits
• planning electrical work for a new project
• discussing options, pricing, placement, and the best solution for your home

a consultation is about planning, designing, and recommending.

🔧 troubleshooting
troubleshooting is for when something is already happening and you need us to figure out why.

think:
• an outlet isn’t working
• lights are flickering
• a breaker keeps tripping
• part of your home has lost power
• something electrical isn’t operating correctly
• you’re hearing, smelling, or noticing something unusual

troubleshooting is about diagnosing the problem and determining the solution.

our diagnostic/service fee allows us to send a licensed professional to your home or business, evaluate the situation, use our experience and equipment to identify the issue, and provide you with professional recommendations.

our electricians aren’t simply showing up and looking around — they’re bringing training, experience, tools, testing equipment, and professional knowledge to your home.

that time and expertise have value, and our service fee allows us to provide that level of professional service to every client.

🏢 a quick note about our office

our regular business hours are for our team to handle scheduling, estimates, client communication, project coordination, and all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps your project moving.

our office is not a walk-in location. office visits are by appointment only. we accommodate, but it is not ideal.

if you need to drop something off, meet with our team, discuss a project, or visit us in person, please schedule an appointment with our office first. this helps us make sure the right person is available and that you receive the attention you deserve.

and remember — you don’t have to know exactly what you need before you book.

if you’re unsure whether you need a consultation or troubleshooting appointment, simply tell us what’s going on. our team can help point you in the right direction.

a standby generator isn’t just an investment in backup power.
it’s an investment in comfort, convenience, security, peace of mind, and the luxury of never having your life completely interrupted by a power outage.

because when you think about what your home actually does for you, losing electricity can mean losing a whole lot more than the lights.

⚡ 1. no more sitting in the dark. your home can automatically transition to generator power when the utility goes down.

❄️ 2. keep your home comfortable. in the texas heat, losing air conditioning isn’t an inconvenience—it can become miserable fast. a properly sized generator can keep essential hvac systems running.

🔥 3. keep the heat on when temperatures drop. winter outages can be just as disruptive, especially when your home relies on electricity for heating equipment.

🧊 4. keep your refrigerator and freezer running. no scrambling to save groceries every time an outage lasts longer than expected.

💻 5. keep working from home. wi-fi, computers, monitors, printers and other essentials can remain operational so a power outage doesn’t automatically become a lost workday.

📱 6. keep your devices charged. phones, tablets, laptops and other everyday electronics can stay powered when you need them most.

🚿 7. keep your hot water available. depending on your home's systems and generator capacity, you can maintain access to the comforts you normally take for granted.

🚰 8. help keep your water systems running.** for homes that rely on electric pumps or other electrically powered equipment, backup power can be a major quality-of-life advantage.

🏊‍♀️ 9. protect your pool investment. a properly sized system can help maintain critical pool equipment during an outage rather than leaving everything sitting idle.

🔐 10. maintain security systems. cameras, alarms, gates, access controls and other security equipment can remain operational when the neighborhood goes dark.

🚪 11. keep your garage and gates functional. no more wondering how you're going to get in or out because your electrically operated systems lost power.

🍷 12. protect the luxuries inside your home. wine refrigerators, specialty appliances, home technology and other high-value equipment can benefit from reliable backup power.

🏠 13. keep your smart-home lifestyle moving. modern homes depend on electricity for far more than lamps and televisions. your home automation, networking and connected systems can be supported by backup power.

🛋️ 14. keep living normally. watch television. make dinner. sleep comfortably. charge your phone. work. shower. relax. the goal is simple: **your life doesn't have to stop because the grid did.**

🌧️ 15. be prepared for severe weather. storms, hurricanes, ice, high winds and unexpected outages can happen with little warning. a generator gives you a plan before the storm arrives.

🏠 16. reduce the stress of extended outages. instead of constantly asking, *“when is the power coming back? you have an independent source of electricity ready to take over.

💰17. protect the investment you've already made in your home. your house may be one of your largest investments. a generator is another layer of protection for the systems, appliances and comforts inside it.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦18. give your family peace of mind.especially for families with children, elderly loved ones or anyone who simply doesn't want to spend hours or days without normal household necessities.

🕯️ 19. eliminate the “generator scramble.”no dragging extension cords through the house. no searching for gasoline. no portable generator sitting outside while you're trying to figure out what can and cannot be powered.

✨ 20. preserve your lifestyle. and honestly? this is the biggest one. a generator isn't about preparing to live without everything. it's about being prepared to keep living with everything.

because luxury isn't just marble countertops, designer lighting or a beautiful kitchen.

luxury is having options.

luxury is knowing that when the neighborhood goes dark, your home can remain comfortable.

luxury is sleeping through a storm instead of waking up wondering if the refrigerator is still cold.

luxury is continuing your workday.

luxury is keeping the ac running when it's 100° outside.

luxury is not rearranging your life around an outage.

and luxury is having the confidence that **your home is prepared before you ever need it.

a whole-home generator is not a purchase you make because you want to experience a power outage.

it's an investment you make because you don't want an outage to dictate your life.

and that's a very different way of looking at it.

you're not buying electricity.

you're investing in comfort, continuity, convenience, protection and peace of mind.

and when you consider everything your home does for you every single day

maybe backup power isn't an unnecessary expense.

maybe it's simply part of owning a home at the level you choose to live. ✨

Sometimes, The Best Part Of Being A Small Business Is Simply Being Human.

The last 24 hours have been a really interesting reminder of why we chose to build a small, family-owned business in the first place.

Not everything in business fits neatly into a process, a policy, or a standard operating procedure.

Sometimes, being a business means being willing to look at the person standing in front of you and say, Okay. How can we help?”

Yesterday, we spoke with a homeowner who has MS and wanted to move forward with a project with us. She needed a little additional help could make the project happen -specifically a ride to the bank.

And honestly? Those conversations matter.

Because when you're dealing with a large company, you can sometimes feel like a number in a system. You call, you're transferred, you explain your situation three times, and eventually you're told what the policy says.

But when you're dealing with a true mom-and-pop business, you get to talk to people.

People who can listen.

People who know their community.

People who can take the time to understand the situation instead of simply checking a box.

Then today, we had another one of those moments.

A gentleman who had driven by our office wanted to see one of our generators actually running. He didn't just want to look at a brochure or watch a video online.

He wanted to hear it.

He wanted to know what it sounded like when it was actually powering a home.

So what did we do?

We drove him to our personal home, which happens to be nearby our office, and turned on our own generator so he could experience it for himself.

Was that technically required of us?

No.

Was it in some corporate customer-service manual?

Probably not.

But that's exactly the point.

We're a small business. We're your neighbors. We're part of this community.

Our office isn't some distant corporate headquarters. Our customers aren't account numbers. And our homes, our families, our reputations, and our business are all connected to the same community we're serving.

When you hire a true local mom-and-pop business, you're not just hiring a company.

You're hiring people who have a reason to care.

We live here.

We work here.

We raise our families here.

We see our customers at the grocery store, at restaurants, at community events, and around town.

Your experience matters to us because you matter to us.

And sometimes that means going the extra mile.

Sometimes it means helping someone navigate a difficult situation.

Sometimes it means answering the phone after hours.

Sometimes it means taking you to our own backyard so you can hear a generator run.

And sometimes it simply means sitting down with someone and figuring out how to make something work.

That's the beautiful thing about doing business locally.

You don't get lost in the shuffle.

You get a relationship.

You get accountability.

You get people who have their name attached to the work.

And you get a business that understands that every customer isn't just another sale.

They're a person.

They're a family.

They're a home.

They're a story.

And we never want to lose sight of that.

So yes, we're proud to be a small business.

We're proud to be a mom-and-pop.

We're proud to be local.

And we're especially proud that, after all these years, we can still say:

Let's see what we can do.

Because that's the kind of business we want to be.

Not the biggest.

Not the loudest.

Just the kind of people you can count on when you need us.

And in a world that can sometimes feel increasingly impersonal, we think that still means something.🖤

Thank you for choosing us for your electrician, lighting and generator needs. Large or small. Residential and commercial.

⚡️ the texas power grid is changing — and houston homeowners (and business owners) should be paying attention.

there is a lot of conversation right now about data centers, artificial intelligence, and what their rapid growth could mean for the texas power grid.

the conversation deserves facts — not fear.

texas is seeing an unprecedented number of proposed large electricity users seeking connections to the ercot grid. recent reports indicate that more than 1,800 large-load projects are in the pipeline, with approximately 90% associated with data centers, representing roughly 474 gigawatts of requested capacity.

that number can sound alarming, but there is an important distinction:

⚡️474 gigawatts is requested capacity — it does not mean 474 gigawatts of data centers are currently operating, approved, or guaranteed to be built.**

it represents the enormous amount of electricity that developers are asking the texas grid to potentially accommodate.

and that is exactly why texas regulators are taking a closer look.

⚡️why does this matter?

modern data centers can be extraordinarily large electricity consumers.

unlike a typical commercial building, many data centers operate continuously, requiring significant power not only for computing equipment but also for cooling and other critical infrastructure.

when large facilities are concentrated in a particular region, the question becomes more complicated than simply asking whether texas has enough electricity.

we also have to ask:

⚡️can the generation be built in time?

⚡️can the transmission system deliver that electricity where it is needed?**

⚡️can local substations and distribution infrastructure handle the additional demand?

⚡️and who should pay for the infrastructure required to serve these new, extremely large customers?

those are legitimate infrastructure questions — and texas is beginning to address them.

houston is part of this conversation.

houston already has significant residential, commercial, industrial and petrochemical electricity demand.

at the same time, texas continues to experience population growth, extreme summer temperatures and increasing dependence on electricity for cooling.

now add rapidly growing large-scale computing demand.

that doesn't mean data centers will automatically cause your next power outage.

it does mean that the way texas plans, builds and manages its electrical infrastructure is becoming increasingly important.

and this is where homeowners can help make a difference.

a generator isn't just about keeping the lights on during a storm.

backup power creates resilience at the individual-home level.

when homes and businesses have properly designed backup power systems, those properties can maintain essential electrical loads when utility service is interrupted rather than depending entirely on the grid during an outage.

that doesn't mean a residential generator supplies power back to ercot or eliminates the need for utility infrastructure.

it means something simpler — and very important:

a prepared home is a home that can remain resilient when the grid experiences an interruption.

and the more resilient our homes, businesses and critical facilities become, the better prepared our communities are to weather disruptions.

what should homeowners do?

you don't need to panic.

you do need to prepare.

your home depends on electricity for far more than lighting.

your hvac system.
your refrigerator and freezer.
your security system.
your internet and communications.
your garage door.
your appliances.
your smart-home systems.
and, for some families, essential medical equipment.

a properly sized and professionally installed standby generator can automatically provide backup power when utility service is interrupted.

and a whole-home surge protective device can provide an additional layer of protection against certain transient voltage events that can occur on an electrical system.

together, these aren't about predicting the next outage.

they're about being prepared for one.

a stronger texas starts with resilient communities.

we can't control how quickly texas grows.

we can't control how much electricity the next generation of technology will require.

and we can't control every event that can disrupt the grid.

but we can control how prepared our homes and businesses are.

⚡️generators don't replace the texas power grid.⚡️

they complement it by giving individual properties another source of power when utility service is unavailable — helping families, businesses and critical operations maintain essential functions during interruptions.

that is resilience.

and in a state growing as quickly as texas, resilience matters.

at arc electric + lighting, we believe homeowners deserve more than a sales pitch.

they deserve to understand the electrical system their home depends on — and make informed decisions about protecting it.

This week, Texas took an unprecedented step: Gov. Greg Abbott directed state regulators and ERCOT to audit proposed large-load projects seeking connections to the state's power grid, effectively pausing new data-center grid approvals while the review takes place.

More than 1,800 large-load projects are reportedly in the ERCOT pipeline, representing roughly 474 GW of requested capacity, with approximately 90% associated with data centers.

prepare before you need it.

08/07/2026

most homeowners think a power outage simply means the lights go dark. the reality is a little more complicated. when utility power is interrupted — and especially when it returns — your home can experience voltage fluctuations, surges, and sudden changes in electrical conditions that can be hard on the electronics and appliances you rely on every day.

your television.your refrigerator.your hvac system.your computers and networking equipment.your smart-home devices.your appliances with sensitive electronic control boards.

your pool equipment.

these systems are far more sophisticated than the appliances our parents grew up with. many contain delicate electronics that don't always respond well to unstable power.

⚡ the moment power returns matters

one of the biggest misconceptions is that the danger is over once the electricity comes back.

not necessarily.
the restoration of utility power can create electrical disturbances that may affect sensitive equipment. repeated outages and restorations can also put additional stress on certain motors, compressors, and electronic components.

and sometimes, the damage isn't immediately obvious.

an appliance may turn back on normally but experience damage that shortens the life of a component — leaving you with an expensive repair or replacement later.

🛡️ so, does a surge protector help?

yes — but not all surge protection is created equal.

a plug-in surge protector can provide protection for certain electronic devices from transient voltage spikes.

but a whole-home surge protective device installed at your electrical panel provides a much broader layer of protection for your home's electrical system and the equipment connected to it.

think of it as protecting the home before the electricity reaches everything you have invested in. schedule your install today.

(surge protectors even offer savings on homeowners insurance)

and what about a generator?

a standby generator serves a different purpose.

surge protection helps protect your equipment from certain electrical disturbances. a generator provides backup power when utility power is unavailable.

they aren't substitutes for one another.

for homeowners who want a more comprehensive approach to protecting their home, properly designed backup power paired with appropriate surge protection can provide an additional level of electrical protection and peace of mind.

because your home isn't just four walls.

it's your appliances.your technology.your comfort.your security.and, increasingly, thousands of dollars worth of electronics that you depend on every day.

(generators also offer savings on homeowners insurance)

at arc electric + lighting, we believe homeowners deserve to understand what is happening behind the walls — not just react when something stops working.

the best protection is thoughtful protection.
