There’s a lot that goes underneath a project like this that you’ll never see once it’s finished. 👀

We’re getting the landing prepped and making sure everything is where it needs to be before we ever start laying block.

Stabilization fabric down, 6” of aggregate base, followed by a 1” bedding layer of washed chip. I like setting pins at the height I want my aggregate so we can rake right to them and know we’re pretty dang close before compaction.

The finished product is the fun part — but getting the base right is what makes it last. 💪

This week has definitely not gone according to plan…

I was pulling my dump trailer to meet with a client when I looked out the window and saw one of my own trailer tires go sailing past me. 😳

It crossed through several yards before finally slamming into someone’s fence. Thankfully, nobody was in its path and nobody got hurt. The fence took the hit, but this could have ended so much worse.

I left the homeowner all my information, contacted insurance, took plenty of pictures, and did everything I could until we figure out what happens next.

It was definitely not how I expected my day to go—but more than anything, I’m just grateful. Equipment can be repaired. Fences can be replaced. People can’t.

Not the update I planned on sharing, but that’s part of the adventure. Let’s go.

Nothing like getting stranded in a Walmart parking lot at 10:00 at night after looking at a potential project. 😂

The GMC Acadia wouldn’t turn over, jumping it didn’t work, and AAA wasn’t expected until midnight—so I grabbed some coconut ice cream, contemplated life, and started watching YouTube videos to prepare myself for changing the starter tomorrow.

Then I found one video that said, “Watch this before replacing your starter.”

I swapped the crank relay with the matching relay beside it…and the Acadia fired right up. Tow canceled. Starter replacement avoided—for now, at least. 😂

Not my typical landscaping content, but sometimes the adventure happens after the workday is supposed to be over. Hopefully this helps somebody else before they start tearing their GMC Acadia apart!

A simple patio plan turned into a few on-site adjustments—but that’s part of the process. 👊

Because of the HOA requirements, we redesigned the landing, shifted the patio over, and gave the homeowner an additional two feet of space to make everything flow better coming out of the house.

The final design will feature a light Vision paver interior surrounded by a bold Onyx border, with matching dark retaining-wall block used to build the landing and steps. The landscape bed will also continue around the house and connect everything together.

This one should look sharp when it’s finished. I’ll be documenting the entire transformation, so follow along and let’s get to work! 🔥

🤝 Had a blast teaming up with Jus Lewis on this one! Huge thanks to him for putting together the edit and voiceover—he absolutely nailed it. Go give him a follow!

It’s always a good time when you’re building with good people. We knocked this bench out in under 30 minutes, had a few laughs along the way (and apparently my dance moves still need some work 😂), and ended up with a pretty awesome final product.
