📖 Faith & Service: A Monthly Reflection 🛠️
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” -Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV)
Trusting God sounds simple until we are actually called to do it. We can pray and say that we have faith, but then our own understanding, fears, and expectations start to cloud that belief. We ask, but wonder how it could possibly happen. We seek, but sometimes try to create our own path. We knock, but become discouraged when the door doesn’t open when or how we expected. Matthew 7:7-8 reminds us to keep doing all three: ask, seek, and knock.
When we look back on our own journey, we can see the Lord’s hand in places we may not have recognized in the moment. Two years ago, owning our own company was just a dream. Through prayer, faith, and a lot of hard work, that dream became Woodie Water Works. There have been months when we didn’t know how certain bills would get paid, but they did. There have been days when a truck broke down and we didn’t know how we would get back to work, but a way was provided. We don’t believe those things happened by mistake. They are reminders that even when we couldn’t see the answer in front of us, God’s provision was already at work.
Seeking the Lord also means remaining obedient while we wait. In business, that can mean watching others take shortcuts while still choosing to do things the right way. If we’re going to pray over this business and ask for His guidance, then our faith should also be reflected in the way we operate it. For Woodie Water Works, that means honest work, treating people fairly, following code, standing behind what we do, and maintaining our integrity even when the easier option is right in front of us.
There are still big things we’re praying for, things we’re seeking, and doors we’re knocking on. We don’t know which doors will open or exactly what the answer to every prayer will look like. But looking back at every time a way has been made gives us faith for what lies ahead. We have done the asking, we continue seeking, and we will keep knocking while trusting the Lord’s timing.
At Woodie Water Works, we want our faith to be reflected not only in what we ask for, but in how we live, work, and serve while we wait for the answer.
