The eclipse is on my mind. I have lived through partials and some full eclipses. One in particular was very close and really showed it's full effects in my area. For the last 65 years, the advice has been to not stare or glimpse at the sun. Instead make a pinhole projector to watch it. This time, there are a lot of glasses sold and lots of people wanting to watch the eclipse. Everyone says they've got glasses to watch the solar eclipse.

Here's my take: I'm not trusting my eyesight to some glasses. There will be cracks, scratches, imposter glasses and no way will I trust that. There will be many photos and live feeds and videos so you will "see" it, even as it happens.

So, I'll be outside to experience it with a little pinhole projector to watch on the ground. My favorite part is the darkness and the shadows of the trees with the extra arcs and fluttering of the shadows. It is special to experience that. I'll watch the news reports and see the photos, but I won't look at the sun.

Main thing, is don't be pressured to gaze at the sun through glasses. Don't miss the natural phenomenon going on around you. And, especially, no matter what you do, be careful and vigilant since eyesight is precious.
