We want someone who makes things happen on a daily basis. In this position that means analyzing the project to determine the plan of attack, schedule tasks, and determine the scope of work and equipment required to execute that scope.
This role includes dedicated commercial roofing estimating, detailed use of TheEDGE estimating software, and partnership with sales, admin, and production.

Scope of Work
Create estimates, proposals and obtain material prices for projects I am assigned
Create a Project File
Download Project (i.e. Invitation to Bid, Drawings, Specifications, Addenda, all other project information
Review Specifications and create a project bid requirement checklist (i.e. Bid Bond, Company Qualifications, other documents and forms required to be submitted with the proposal)
Create a Bid in the “Edge Estimating System” (Experience with the Edge Estimating System should be a requirement)
Download roof drawings in the “Edge”
Complete Take-Off (Labor & Material)
Input prices in the Edge Estimate (Obtained prices from manufacturer reps or distributors)
Tweak labor prices (Labor prices are already on the Edge as a Default but must be “tweaked” for the specific project
Some projects (depending on the scope, difficulty, and cost) are reviewed with other members on the estimating team just as a method to make sure our estimate is complete (not missing overlooked items or other issues)
Attending weekly estimating department meetings, receiving assignments, etc.
Completing additional work estimates (proposed change orders) requested by the GC/Owner, Castro Project Manager, Castro Service Department
Expertise
5 years’ experience as a commercial roofing estimator
Familiar with different commercial roofing systems and manufacturers
The EDGE estimating software a plus.
Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings, client sketches as well as ability to design roofing solutions
Must have high mathematics and logical aptitude
This is not totally a direct and mechanical process, but one that is creative and demands a high level of concentration, mental effort, and judgment.
Must demonstrate competence in measuring techniques and possess a good general knowledge of economics
You need to have a natural talent to start and finish projects on time
Must be highly detail-oriented and can solve problems with little guidance
