Mulch is one of those things that looks great AND actually does a ton of work behind the scenes. Here's why we recommend it to basically every single client:
REGULATES SOIL TEMPERATURE
In Texas summers, bare soil can heat up fast and stress your plants' roots. A good layer of mulch acts like insulation — keeping soil cooler when it's scorching and warmer during those surprise cold snaps.
RETAINS MOISTURE
Mulch slows evaporation so your soil stays moist longer between waterings. In a place where water bills are no joke, that adds up fast.
SUPPRESSES WEEDS
A 2–3 inch layer blocks sunlight from reaching w**d seeds. Fewer w**ds = less work for you (and us 😄).
FEEDS YOUR SOIL
Mulch breaks down over time, adding nutrients back into the soil naturally. It's basically a slow-release fertilizer.
AND it just looks really, really good.
Fresh mulch around your beds is one of the fastest ways to make your whole yard look polished and cared for.
