🚨 As temperatures rise and pipes start to thaw, this is when leaks show up. 🚨

Keep an eye (and ear) out for these warning signs:
❄️ Low water pressure
❄️ Moisture or leaks under sinks
❄️ Toilets or appliances acting off
❄️ Hissing or running water sounds
❄️ Water meter moving when nothing is on

👉 These are common signs of freeze-related leaks hiding in walls, slabs, or yards. Catching them early can save thousands in damage.

Round 2 Coming Tonight…

The latest weather sounding shows an all sleet precipitation type with this next round and some snow as the low pressure is pulling away.

The heaviest precipitation appears between 9pm to 3am overnight with heavy burst of sleet as temps fall into the upper teens by midnight. A couple of inches of sleet is possible overnight.

By 3am a transition to some snow. Wake up early if you would like to see a little snow North of I-30. Most all precipitation is done after sunrise. Temps 12 degrees in the morning.

Maybe some snow flurries in the afternoon and lake effect snow is possible.

❄️ Check paws + wipe off de-icing chemicals after walks
❄️ Make sure collars & microchips are up to date
❄️ Watch for shivering or weakness
❄️ Pack a pet emergency kit for power outages

To family and friends living in mobile homes and manufactured homes-

With the extreme cold temperatures coming, there are a few things we recommend doing to keep your pipes from freezing. We recommend leaving all cabinets open that have waterlines running through them (e.g. under kitchen sink, bathroom vanity sink); as well as leaving all faucets running a stream at least the width of a pencil to avoid freezing. It may seem over the top to keep the water running for 24 or even 48 hours and it may increase your water bill a bit, but it will be much cheaper in the long run to keep pipes from bursting and needing repair! Heat tape will help with holding off the freezing but it is not a 100% guarantee. Leaving taps running and opening cabinets are necessary to get through these extreme temps! PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!

Preliminary Snow Amounts North Texas..

This continues to be a mainly freezing rain sleet ice storm in DFW. The National Blend data really hasn’t changed over the last two days. Still 1 to 3 inches of snow on the backside of the system on Sunday morning.

If you lose power and have no heat, get everyone in one room. Use sleeping bags if you have them. Maybe set up a tent in the living room.
Open the faucets to a slow dribble. Moving water is less likely to freeze. That includes the toilet.
Get together with neighbors and check on any elderly ones.
