I took this picture on June 25, 2014 in Paynesville, Liberia at Cos. Dolly's home. Our beloved Abdoul Raman Kamara, born on June 17, 1972 in Monrovia, Liberia went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2014. He had just turned 42 on June 17th. He leaves behind a loving mother, Daphne Barnes Kamara, sister, Foudiya Henri, sister-in-law Cathy Kamara; brothers Allie Jr., Henrique , Soulaiman, and brother-in-law Ralph Henri. Aunts: Dolly Barnes, Ruth Baker, Josephine Barnes, Thelma Scott, Khadijatu Kamara, Danielette Kiadii, Karen Richards Barnes, Vivian Barnes and Wheatonia Barnes. Uncles: Joseph Barnes, Cecil Barnes, Nathaniel Baker and Eugene Scott; a niece, Marti and nephews, Christopher and Eric Henri; a close circle of cousins and extended family. His vibrant and friendly personality created for him many friends in the USA and Liberia who will also remember him fondly.

19 years ago, at our last family reunion organized by me, my mother stood up and spoke after I had become frustrated at the lack of support by family members. I was ready to quit chairing the family reunion, and subsequently I did. My mother had watched me work tirelessly so she decided to stand up in my defense. She quoted these lines from this poem:

“We can’t all be captains, we’ve got to be crew, there’s plenty of work for everyone to do.”
