Picture this: Summer evening.

The grill is going.
The kids found the hose again.
Someone showed up early because traffic on 121 somehow behaved.
Music is on.
Drinks are on the counter.
Nobody is standing inside the kitchen asking where to put things.

They’re outside.

Around the outdoor kitchen.
On the deck.
Under the lights.
Behind a fence that keeps the dog where he belongs.

That’s what we build.

Not just backyard features.

Spaces people actually use.

Three things make homeowners like their decks more:

1. Shade.
2. More shade.
3. A place where the sun is not actively trying to remove your soul.

That’s where a pergola or patio cover changes everything.

A deck without shade can look great and still go unused all summer.

Genco Construction builds cedar pergolas, shade structures, patio covers, decks, and fences across DFW.

Five questions to ask before you sign a fence contract:

1. Are the posts steel or wood?
2. How deep are the posts embedded?
3. What diameter is the concrete footing?
4. Are the fasteners galvanized?
5. What warranty is in writing?

If the contractor can’t answer clearly, pause.

A fence is not just cedar pickets.

It’s posts, concrete, rails, fasteners, layout, gates, drainage, and warranty.

The quote should tell you what you’re actually buying.

Kitchen remodel truth:

The most expensive thing in your kitchen may not be the cabinets.

It may be the wall you wish wasn’t there.

That “simple” wall removal can trigger:

→ Structural beam work
→ Electrical rerouting
→ HVAC changes
→ Plumbing changes
→ Drywall and paint
→ Flooring repairs
→ Engineering or permitting

Sometimes it is absolutely worth it.

But it needs to be priced honestly before demo starts.

Genco Construction handles full kitchen remodels across DFW — with the real scope discussed upfront.

Why do we 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗘 wood posts and only use galvanized steel posts?

𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Pickets matter.
Top caps matter.
Trim matters.
But if the post fails, everything else fails with it.

Steel posts don’t rot.
They don’t split or lean
They don’t become termite food.
They handle DFW weather better than wood.

Wood posts are cheaper up front.

But they are also the reason a lot of fences start leaning before the homeowner is done paying for the project.

The homes you remember from childhood usually weren’t the biggest.

They were the ones where everyone gathered.

The backyard where the cousins stayed outside until dark.
The deck where the adults kept talking long after dinner.
The fence that kept the dog in, the kids safe, and the chaos somewhat contained.

That’s what outdoor spaces are really for.

Yes, they add value to a home.

But more than that, they create the kind of place people remember.

Genco Construction builds outdoor spaces families actually use — and come back to.

To every mom hosting today:

The food doesn’t have to be perfect.
The house doesn’t have to stay spotless.
The kids may run through every room.
Someone may spill something.
And someone will probably forget the leftovers.

But everyone came.

And that says a lot about the home you’ve created.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Genco Construction. 💐

A fence isn’t finished just because the last board is installed.

A finished job means the details are handled:

→ The gate swings properly
→ The hardware works cleanly
→ The fasteners are set right
→ The yard is cleaned up
→ The final work matches the quote
→ The homeowner knows exactly what was built

That’s the difference between installing a fence and completing a project.

At Genco Construction, we care about the finish just as much as the build.
