This elevation was designed to feature an old ‘ice box’ as pantry by the client/homeowner. Was made from the remaining stash of some salvaged old growth Douglas Fir from a local high school’s old gymnasium bleachers. Finished w/ Linseed Oil and Wax.

Made from drawings provided by clients. We eventually landed on quarter sawn White Oak with a very light brown pigmented hard wax/oil finish. I so wish more people went for Quarter Sawn White Oak. It’s just got so much life and character to it. Bold choice. And I really love this 1/4” banding detail. Also fun lil anecdote: once the hardware was added I notice this really interesting reflection or shadow being cast from the floor with natural day light from the skylight. 🤯

Designed and built for a lovely family here in town. Paint grade cabinetry with UV Maple interiors for durability and that little maple ‘surprise.’ Quarter Sawn Walnut bench top and shelf finished with Osmo Hard wax/oil. AND a little surprise on the underside with some patches. Something like that, I think, helps to tell the story of the craftsman who made it and hopefully adds to the lives/stories of those who enjoy it everyday.
